"EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR THE BEST" ... When we reached the apartment, the landlord told us he had rented it to another family. Finally, after much searching, we reached Ravenswood on Chiâ€" eago‘s North Side. Here is where our parents had met and courted. Here is where they had spent many happy hours . . . Mother had picked a delightful apartment in Evanston and we were preparing to move into it. And hm is where God‘s presâ€" ence was obvious, we believe . . . We were disappointed and upâ€" set. < We were homeless. In desâ€" peration we headed towards Chiâ€" cago, Mother comforting us with the words: $ The reason why truth is strangâ€" er than fiction is ‘cause we hear so little of it. And when we put our faith comâ€" pletely in God, then â€"and then only ! â€" will we have peace of mind and the ideal world. CONCRETE PROOF .. . Although most of us were born in Chicago, it â€"was ourâ€"parents‘ wish that we settle in a suburban town where the schools and genâ€" eral environment are far superior to Chicago. f "Children, everything happens for the best." We held back our tears and hunted for vacancies. Let‘s make this more concrete... When still a youth, the writer and his family had to pack their suitcases and move from Wisconâ€" sin to Illinois. As our Dad was slated for a position in Chicago, it was compulsory that we find a home near the Windy City. Page 2 He is guided by an omnipresent power. , But Man‘s acts are not done solely by him. Man, we feel, is guided in every action every minâ€" ute of every day. * And it is an indispensable part of everyone of us. WE‘RE HERE TO DO GOOD . . Now, if you‘re thinking of putâ€" ting the column aside this week, please wait a moment until we reach our subject. It is FAITH Assuming our readers â€" believe there is a Divine Power running ;flr universe, we proceed fearlessâ€" y. _ ¢ wl in Eo We believe that Man is Gpd‘s creation. Man is created in God‘s image and therefore he is a part of God. We believe that Man was put on this world to do good. And to build. _ And to improve. And to create. It has been quite a time since we‘ve written a "think piece." You‘ll recall that‘s a newspaperman‘s description of a column writâ€" ten about a subject which is in ble, perhaps, but which is, nevâ€" ertheless, close to him. With m permission of our generous and gentle editor, Mrs. Lester Olson, we‘re going to let our fingers peck away at something which means a great deal to us. JOB PRINTING 1sS OUR . Sometimes God‘s deft direction and guidance are notâ€" apparent. And when that is so, our FAITH needs revitalizing. Do you understand? Ifâ€" not, here‘s a sumpmary of what has gone before . . . The sooner we realize that we‘re created in the image of God, the sooner we realize that God is planning our lives (but with our eritire effort also devoted to doâ€" ing "right" and "good" constantâ€" ly), and the sooner we put our plans and our faith completely inâ€" to His hands, and, finally, the sooner we let "Thy will be done!", the quicker we will haveâ€"peace of mind â€" the highest and happiest state we can reach! Think back over your own exâ€" periences. To us the answer now is simâ€" ple : + * Before entering the navy in January, Peterson attended Highâ€" land Park high school. He reâ€" ceived recruit training at Great Lakes, That boy is now my sister‘s husâ€" band. And they are happily marâ€" ried and blessed â€"with identical twins â€" whose cute pranks you‘ve read about before in this corner. .A city of controversy from way back, Tsingtso was occupied by the Japanese throughout the war. It formerly was a summer resort famed for its large beaches and fine hotels. Suddenly Dad turned onto Herâ€" mitage Ave. Up it we drove. And there was a brand new apartment, just ready for occupancy that day. One of the boys "took a shine" to my eldest sister. It was getting dark and still we had not found a vacant _ apartâ€" ment. That brand new apartment beâ€" came our ‘Chicago home for five years. But more important, we feel, was the result of God‘s planning... ~* Living next door was a very fine family, a family of three boys and three girls. HAPPILY MARRIED ... 548 CENTRAL TEL H.
