Ross Beatty. The newly .elected president, Mrs. Henry Clifford Hawes, welcomed the members with a graceful speech, and Richard Hagen, a muâ€" sic major at the University of Illinois, opened the program with a group of compositions ranging from Bach to the moderns. As much at home in Bach and Scarâ€" latti as with the modern composâ€" ers, he played the former with clarity and precision, and the latâ€" ter with style. His interpretation of Chopin showed feeling unusual in so young a man.. In contrast was the harp playâ€" ing of the hostess, Mrs, Beatty, playingâ€" her own arrangements of a few charming songs and other compositions . written especially for the harp. She gave a delightâ€" ful performance.
