Jens Jensen, a former Highland Parker, gave an address to ‘the Izaak Walton league, a North Shore group, at the Winnetka Community House on Tuesday evening. Many Highland Parkers know this noted philosopher and of the many honors he has neceived in the fields of art and conservation. Many will also remember when the King of Denmark offered him a knighthood, which he refused, saying he didn‘t want a ribbon to hang around his neck. The story of many of Chicago‘s beauty spots is the story of Jens Jensen. It was he who established the now famous Garfield Park conservatory, as well as the Forest Preserve system. He campaigned to preserve these fast disappearâ€" ing wild lands on the city‘s edge. As landscape consultant, Mr. Jenâ€" sen planned the beginning of Chiâ€" cago‘s park system. Mr. Jensen, now 88, works among the trees and flowers of his Ellison Bay, Wisconsin, home. Miss Mertha Fulkerson, a former Highland Parker, also, is the secâ€" retary ‘of the famous naturalist.
