The department of the Ameriâ€" can Legion Auxiliary of Illinois asks all units to adopt a blind veteran, whom they will keep supplied with sewn carpet .rags which he may weave into rugs. Highland Park Unit No. 145 has adopted a veteran of the first World War, at the Wood, Wisconâ€" sin, Soldier and Sailor‘s home, where he is a member of an allâ€" blind company. The women of the Unit have been theeting during the winter to cut, sew and roll carpet rags to parcel post to their adopted veteran. Cards, cookies and gifts at Christmas have brought sevâ€" eral letters in reply, as well as a nice rug 52 inches long. He will be glad to take orders for rugs of any size, The ladies of Unit No. 145 plan to visit Wood this summer and give a picnic for this veteran and his buddies. The couple was headed for their home in Humboldt, Iowa. The finding of an airplane wheel and a piece of wood led to the belief their plane may have plunged into the lake. Highwood Chosen As Permanent Home Of Wesley Methodist Close This Week Religious School At Tentative plans include remodelâ€" ing the sanctuary, extending the dining and recreation facilities, and building a five room parsonâ€" age adjoining the present structâ€" Glencoe Temple To Two years ago the congregations of the Highwood and the Highland Park Methodist Churches voted unanimously to merge, bringing together the people and the propâ€" erties of these two organizations into the Wesley Methodist Church of Highland Park and Highwood. Last Friday night the members took another important step in the history of the church. At an all Church Conference they voted, with an overwhelming majority, to authorize the Board of Trustees to sell the Highland Park property and launch a building program to redecorate and enlarge the buildâ€" ing on the Highwood location. The Service at ‘North Shore Congregation Israel this Friday night, May<27, will be carried "upon the wings of song" when the Religious School Choir of sixty voices presents its annual Festival of Music under the direction of Mr. Herman Goodman.
