He attended the high school at Baraboo and received his B. A. degree at the University of Wisâ€" consin in‘ 1940 and his Master‘s degree at the University of Chiâ€" cago in 1948. Mr. Holmes taught at the high school in Palatine Illiâ€" nois for one year before coming to Highland Park,. He served in the U. S. Army .Air Forces in Meteorology â€" from _ September, 1941 until October, 1945. His quict scholarly manner, love of teaching . and â€" conscientiousness had endeared"him to his Tellow teachers and to the students at Braeside School. Mr.=Holmes is survived by his wife Margaret Walker Holmes and son Stephen Walker Holmes.
