General ~Eliott congratulated ‘the Llinois Society for the Preâ€" véention of Blindness for its leadâ€" ership in this safety measure which is "an extremely worthwhile undertaking on behalf of every boy â€"and girl in Illinois", Boy and Girl Scouts Pledge Assistance To Antiâ€"Fireworks Campaign Boy and Girl Scouts of Ameriâ€" ca have pledged assistance to Atâ€" torney General Ivan A. Elliott at the opening of the fifth antiâ€" fireworrks campaign â€" which is sponsored ‘by the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness. Attorney General Elliott viewed with alarm the report that some children are ordering fireworks by mail and that these children have been found selling these fireâ€" works to their playmates. Geperal Elliott warned parents that they are responsible under the law and that he is calling for rigid enforceâ€" ment and renewed vigilance from all enforcement officers throughâ€" out the state. Attorney General Elliott commended the Boy and Girl Scouts for setting a good exâ€" ample for other children. "‘It is important that our boys and girls learn to respect the law rather than to think it is a misâ€" chievous prank to violate it. What is worse, when fireworks are~ime volyed, their own safety and that of their playmates is endangered. An eye shot out by fireworks can mever be replaced." Attorney General Elliott recallâ€" ed that a freak fireworks acciâ€" dent some years ago cost him the sight of his right eye. Moose Governors Superior Mudders! Last Monday night at Sunset Park the Moose Governors played host to the Barrington Lodges (Loyal Order of Moose) 16 inch softball team and handed them a terrific beating. The game was held up for half an hour while the rain pounded the diamond into a quagmire. The "Governors" broke out in front at the start and went on to win, drawing away to a 80 run Tead. Our local lads revelled in the going while the visitors, who are yet inexperienced at .16 inch>softball, couldn‘t get going in the slop. The manager of the visiting team has already threatened reâ€" venge for the trouncing on Sunâ€" day, ‘ August 26 when the two teams meet again at the Moose Picnic in Wheeling. He hopes for different playing conditions, while his team will have gained more exâ€" perience by then. Marriage often begins when you sink in his arms and ends with your arms in the sink. \Eating between meals helped to develop the sandwich spread.
