Gibbs, Manager HOT WEATHER A Joint meeting of the two school boards is scheduled to take place this (Thursday) evening, at which time it is expected that business of more than the ordinary importance will come up. Amon* one of the matters which in all likelihood will come up for dis- > position will be the engagement of a school superintendent. Five vacancies exist in the two schools at this time, four in the high school and one in the grade schools. To date a superintendent has not been engaged nor have the places of Mr. Moser, Miss CasseJls and Miss Peterson in high school and that of Miss Dean, teacher in the eigth gra.de, been filled. Just who will fill these positions next year is still a matter of conjecture, altho members of the two boards are hopeful that some amiable settlement of the situation may be effected at this evening's meeting. As to the proposed new community high school building, matters stand about the same as they did two weeks ago, altho the committee, appointed to go over the proposed site of the new building for the purpose of placing a valuation on the property, has gone over the grounds quite thoroly, but thus far has not made its figures public. Just as soon as this committee completes its work an attempt will be made to purchase the site. In case an agreement cannot be reached between the owners of the property and i^e community high school board be necessary to start condemfiatioh proceedings and thus leave it to the court to <Jeci,!' what it considers a fair price. It is the sincere hope of many of the school patrons as well as the scholars that court action will not be necessary to gain possession of the property and that an amiable agreement may be reached at an early date so that the board may go ahead with the building plans. The matter of taking care of the overflow high school enrollment will also be talked over at the meeting tonight. According to reports heard about town the present school building will be far too small to accommodate both schools next year and if this is found to be correct it Will be up to the community school board to provide temporary quarters to serve until the completion of the new school.
