FOX RIVER RADIO SHOP ELM STREET PHONE 137^1 From Credit to Cash On and After August 15th We Will SeB ^ --r-FOR CASH ONLY -- . READ THE REASONS • ; : is always the thing that dese full consideration. Upon you men and women, as heads of your familitfft lies the res|>onsibility of conducting your business in such a maMM* that will give to those dependent upon you the greatest possible amount of comfort. In making the change In our business methods which we are now announcing to you, We have had this thought clearly before us. la atip business there are three important and essential factors--the prodaotTi the seller and the consumer. The most important factor in any business is the consumer---the man who uses the goods. He therefore daserves our most careful attention. A merchant's interests are very closely associated with his customer's interests and of the general interest of xhe community in whieh he lives and earns his bread and butter. It will also be readily seen that a merchant can prosper only in proportion to the good service that he renders. After a very careful consideration of the subject and St thorough investigation of the many communities where it has haMt tried, together with an observation of conditions extending over nany years on the part of some of us, and a discussion Issting through several months we have reached the conclusion that: THE REASONS ARE VERY PLAIN 1. Credit has ruined many more people than it has helped. You can, no doubt, see this result right In your own neighborhood. Men bare established a reputation for being good pay. liare been able to buy goods on credit nt any store and. as a result, have overreached themselves. This result varies in degree. Some have had to sell calves and pigs and colts before they were ready for the market thereby taking a loss by not being able to cash in on the valuable growth which these animals would have made. Even the good wives are affected by this. S. It is then very plain that • Cash System will benefit the entire community by putting it upon a more conservative and a much safer basis. If every family pays as it goes there will always he money in the "family exchequer" to meet the emergencies which continually arise In our lives. Last season furnishes an excellent example of this. Many of our good farm-' ers were compelled, on account'of dry weather and short crops, to sacrifice valuable stock and stint themselves In order to obtain feed for their stock and the things absolutely necessary for their families and also to pay the store bill. How much better it would have been If every man Instead of bills which must be paid had had In reserve a fund to have met such an emergency. A cash system also eliminates the idea of competition in spending money. Would It not be far better if aacb of us. Instead of trying to see how much better we can look than our neighbors or how much big- , ger show we can make than "so and so," would face about and see how much better we can conduct oar business and do our work. 8. A cash system then will give every man an honest chance, it will compel every man to stand four square to the world exactly as he Is and give him a feeling of confidence which only the cash man can have. There Is absolutely no question about his being able to become more prosperous and carry a bigger bank account under such a system. He will know every night exactly what be Is worth and like the "vllb. ioksmith" of your school day ?k tbe whole world In the owes no man anything.' |ly eliminate from the e thought that "pay | tomorrow aad toff." We ha question point of view I Biers but after a" amotig ourselves wel to discover a single ti,st merchants iriterest is dlf that of the customer. We ar Ing together in the same coin oil We all help support our Churcl Schools and our Good Roads. What^ benefits one, must In some degree, at least, benefit us all. It is good tor us all that we all prosper. While many people have the idea that every merchant has a fat bank account the reverse is true. Under the old credit System the many unnecessary trardsas we have been forced to carry have prevented us from making the reaaaa- Sble living profits to which we are Justly entitled. By changing this system many important Improvements . can be made. 1. It will save the sastchaa* a lata* part of his expense In doing baste-- fhere will no longer be any forgotten charges to account for when we cAMse -to the end of the year and Bgurf ap our loss and gain. There can hardly be an error In a cash transaction. We Will no longer have to go over a long list of accounts and wonder If this man or that man is STILL CiOOP. It will eliminate loss of goods wrongly charged and accounts denied. 2. It will enable the meichaat to bea better buyer. Cash on delivery always talks louder in the markets of the world than sixty days time with a requestion for an extension when the limit is reached. It Is a well known fact that almost all wholesale houses have several prices but the cash man . gets the best one. There is nothing that makes such a tempting noise as giKHi old Uncle Sana's currency, tbe aapreane standard by which the valeea of all the world are now gauged. Cash Business is Better for the General Good of the Community than Credit Business We are sure that our stand is just and right. We appeal to Jtmm entelligent ambitous business men and women to take the sane attt honest view of the question and give it your most eareful coosfcfenftitak Then join with us as we have always united with you in a spirit of earnest co-operation and let us all pull together to develope the "PAY AS YOU GO" system and make McHenry and community tbe SNOfc prosperous community in all this prosperous state. Our <&iiifcMt vSt then develope into better men and women, our homes will be lpigjMwi our land will be worth more, a GREAT SPIRIT OF CONTENTMENT WILL PREVAIL AND WE WILL ALL BE MORE HAPPY. US JOHN J.
