Barbian, practically a-'Hf#* long resident of McHenry, died at his home on Monday, December 20, after an illness o€ nearly two years. He was born at Chicago on February 12, 1860, being 66 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of Nicholas and Mary B&rbian and with his parents moved to McHenry when eleven years old. Here he grew to manhood and in 1876 he commenced in the cigar trade. His business grew and he conducted a prosperous cigar manufacturing establishment here for forty-nine "years, being in company with his brother, Frank, for several years. On November 24, 1917, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Masquelet, who is left to mourn his loss. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. E. C. Mullen of Oak Park, 111., and two brothers, N. E. Barbian and Anton G. Barbian. Funeral services were held from St. Patrick's church at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, Dec. 22, with burial at St. Mary's cemetery. The pall bearers were John J. Buch, John H. Miller, Joseph N. Miller, Jacob Schaefer, Math Niesen and Peter Frett. Friends and relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J. Pauly of Elgin. Mr! and Mrs. Frank Prasser of Chicago, Mrs. Irene Gleason and Miss Eleanor Masquelet of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dimi^el and family and Mrs. William Desmond of Woodstock and Mrs. E. C. Mullen of Oak Park, HI. Scfcflftl closed last Friday afternoon for Christmas holiday with a very interesting program. Elma Sherman, a former pupil in the Bull Valley school, and Ollie and Leta Clark, former Ostend pupils, but now all second year pupils in Woodstock high school, are enjoying vacations until Monday, Jan. 3. Frank Kaiser and Joe Harrer shipped several coops of chickens to their brother in Chicago a few days before Christmas. The brother, John Harrer, runs a meat market in the big city. Anyonet wishing a real treat and surprise should have attended the exercises at our school house December 24. The teacher, Kenneth Rawson, has been giving all pupils instructions in music as well as the regular lessons. I am wholly incapable of telling the public of the wonderful improvement. He has a real band, himself the leader. The oldest pupil in the band is only fourteen and the youngest six. One cannot realize what these children can do without listening. Myron Francisco and wife of Wairconda were brief callers on relatives here Sunday afternoon. For all the cloudy, frosty weather that prevails there are no cases of serious illness in our neighborhood. Several complain of rheumatism but are not laid up. Going to be married? about printing invitations or nouncements. The Plaindealer. See t is an- GAINS 8 POUNDS SINCE TAKING VINOL "I felt sluggish drowsy and weak. A friend suggested Vinol. Will Quinn Entertains Will Quinn royally entertained many"of his friends at StofTel's hall on Tuesday evening of this week. About one hundred guests responded to the invitation and the hall was once more the scene of much merriment. Many out-of-town guests were also present. Music was furnished by the Gold Coast orchestra and many of the old-time dances, as well as the more up-to-date ones, were enjoyed by all present. A delicious lunch was served after which music, singing and speeches entertained the guests until a late hour.
