It will be issued •e ml-weekly. OLD SANTA CLAUS has arrived at Colby Bros with a tremendous stock and great variety of elegant Presents that will make glad the hearts of old and young. Call and shake hands with the old gentleman. A VERT pleasant little invited party assembled at the Parker House 011 Thursday evening last, and with good music enjoyed a good social time until the "we sma hours." It was such a time as none could fail to enjoy. ORSON BUOBEK has broken up keep ing house; and, witli his family, is boarding with Wm. Madgett, four miles south-east of this village. Geo. THE arrangements for the New Yew's Party at |0rand Hall, are all completed,an& eterything Indicates a good ok) fashioned time. The Ger mania Band, J. Miss MAGGIE CLARK is reported quite s Ick w i thJthe d I ph the rla. AT the time of going to press, Wednesday morning, our Wauconda correspondence has failed to reach us. EAKL WIGHTMAN, sou of John Wightman, of Clienoa. 111., Is spending the Holidays with his uncle, H. E* Wightman, of the Riverside House. IF you love fun do not fail 'o see the •'Irish Diamond,"1 and the siile-split- ting Farce, by the Macready Comedy Company, at Riverside Hall, this even ing. ' WE understand the "Boys" have organized a Minstrel Troupe In this village. Look out for some fun when they aunounce t^heir first entertain ment. WE learn that parties from Dundee ere here on Mouday last looking for a sight to build a Cheese Factory. It would seem to us that there is uo bet ter point in the county. FOR "fwr" high prices read f*/xrlul high prides in the advertisement of Wt H. Dwight, Woodstock. We did not notice it until the first side $f our paper was worked oft. IN another column can he found a new advertisement of J. B. Blake, who is ottering rare inducements in Holiday Goods. If j'ou,don't read it you may feel as bad as that fellow shown in the •4ad." THE Waukeean Gazette says: "We learn that John G. Ragan. Esq., of Fre mont, In this county, has sold his farm to a German, and expects to remove to Wankegan before many weeks. He bought the land of the Government more than forty years ago and has owned it ever since, so that the ab stract makers will not have a very heavy fee for showing the title." PURCHASERS of Holiday Goods should not fail to read the new advertise ment of Mrs. Searles. in to-days PLAIN- DKALER, and then call and look oyer the large assortment of goods suitable for Holiday Preseuts. Mrs. Seai-les also oflers her stock of Millinery Goods at 60 cents on the dollar for the next twenty days. WK would again remind the public that there will be a Christmas Tree\at the M. E. Church, in this village, i»ii Friday evening, and that all are invi ted to seud in their Preseuts and have them put upon the Tree. During the evening there will also be singing and other exercise^. The public are cor dially invited. THE ne~v Bridge Is fast assuming '.'J proportions, and it now looks as though it would be easily completed in the time designated In the contract. The contractors could not have had a bet* ter time to do the work, and it has also been fortunate for the traveling public, asjtlie crossing on the ice has been good the entire time since the bridge was torn up. THE weather still continues gioomy, the sun not having made its appear ance iu this section for the past ten day6. The weather is tnild, with con- tant threatening of snow, but as yet but little of the "beautiful" has fallen. Old Vennor had better try agaiu. WE would agaiu remind our readers, and especially the dancing public of the New Years Party at the Riverside House 011 Firday evening Dec 31st.-- Good music, and every comfort and convenience for the accommodation of those iu attendance will be furnished. WE have received a specimen num ber of HAPPY SONGS, IN 40 page man- ilia form, music book for day school?, which certainly Alls a real want. The paper and "get up" of the little book is first class. They are a fine pair of bays, lour and five years old, a»id will weigh about 2300 pounds. They are as fine a team as can be found in this section. THE Macready Coiuedy Company gave one of their entertainments at Riverside Hall last evening, and al though there was not as good a turnout as we expected to see, all were well pleased. In 1'act the company is one of the best now traveling, and are well worthy the patronage of the public.-- Last evening they played "Driven from Home, or a Father's Curse^*" and every character was well sustained.-- To-night, which will positively be their last, will be presented '-The Irish Diamond," together with a Roaring Farce, and 110 one who loves the Comedy should fall to go. We be speak for them a full house to-night. t^In the Elgin Advocate we find this remarkable (item: "A DeKalb county farmer has just lost a valuable cow from milk fever, and greatly de plores the demise of tlie animal.
