The Wagner Palace Car Company will side-track all their cars used by excur­ sionists going to Detroit, and these will be used for sleeping quarters by those who desire them. Fnlly 500 saddle horses will be required for the grand parade. Where this num- berof horses and theequipments required are to come from is already puzzling the Detroiters. Livery men expect to make small fortune on saddle horses and carriages. The hotel men in Detroit jgm btugr pre­ paring for the encampment. The Russell house will be ready to accommocate 000; the Hotel Cadilac, 1,400; the Wayne, 500; the Normandie, 400; the Griswold, 500 at least, and the Biddle House will shelter and feed 1500. Mrs. Sarah M. Bradford, favorably known throughout the order as the fourth Department President of Illinois, W. R. C.", has been solicited by many friends to represent Illinois as the next National President. If she cut be in duced to accept, indications are she will prove a strong candidate. An active canvass in reported as hav­ ing been begun in Michigan to boom the candidacy of Col. C. P. Lincoln for Com- mander-in-chief. It is not rateable to elect a commander-in-chief from the De­ partment in which the encampment is held. Comrade Linpoln may get the senior vice commandership. The survivors of the famous Third Light of the First Division, Fifth Army Corps, Army of the Potomac (this bri­ gade had the honor to be ordered to re­ ceive the surrender of General R. E. Lee's army at Appomattox), are to have a re­ union at Detroit, August 5th, with the Sixteenth Michigan Volunteers. This was General Daniel Butterfleld's brigade, and he has advised the committee he will be present. The Forty-fourth New York, Eighty-third Pennsylvania, Twelfth New York, Seventeenth New York, Twentieth Maine, and Sixteenth Michigan will all be largely (^presented. There will be a reunion of the army and navy musicians of the war of l861-'65 on Wednesday afternoon, August 5, com­ mencing at two p. m., at No. 30 Michi­ gan Avenue. A special invitation to at­ tend this musicians' reunion is extended all thoee who were in brigade or reg­ imental bands, as well as those who served as buglers, fliers or drum­ mers, and especially all those who have not since the war made music a pro­ fession. There will be at this reunion a musicians' register. ' Let every soldier- musician who is present in Detroit at­ tend this reunion.
