Papers on "Preventive Med icine** were read by Dr. Tapper, of Elgin; Dr. Cleveland, of Dundee; Dr. Blackman, of Batavia; and Dr.Clifford, of Chicago. Dr. Brewer, of Chicago, delivered an ad dress. in which he made a plea for more intimate relations with the press. The officers elected for the ensuing year are: President, Dr. Van patten, St Charles; vice president, Dr. W. A. Nason, Algon quin; secretary, Dr Pratt, Ehgin. He was the son of George and Maky (Hall) Henderson, and was born lit Ster- Hngshere, Scotland, He learned the e&lico printer's trade in his native coun try, servi&g an apprenticeship of 4 years. Coming to this coooiry in 183U; he lived two years in Providence, R. I., and in the 'spring of 1841 came to Illinois, settling in Dupage Co. Two years later he re moved to McHenry Co., on the farm where ae has since lived. Oct. 15th 1841 he was married to Anne Young, native of Scotland, and ten ohildren trere born to them, only six of which are living. Mr. Henderson in 1862 enlisted in the 05th 111., Infantry in Company D., and was detailed to the Orderly Department. He accompanied Sherman to the sea, and was discharged June 20,1864. He was a member of Nunda Post, No. 236, G. A, B., and was an honest, upright, hard working man, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need; kind and affectionate to his family and friends. His neighbors cannot speak to highly of him. His heart broken wife inourns her life long companion, who for 51 years has shared bis joys and sorrows. The old home is horns no mors, A father's chair is empty, a father's step And voice are heard no more.
