Mad* a Nnnda Hotolaaaa by - Former Krnploy*. PHILIP ChMges of a serious nature have been filed against a Nunda hotel keeper. Miss Mary Mortensan, embayed for a time in th»%#el, is the complainant She Is the nineteen-year-old daughter of Nick HortaDsen, a farmer redding near Bur- Ion's bridge. Sentiment is said to have .reached hmw heat in Nunda and Crystal Lake, and it is said the sweetheart of the girl, to whom her engagement was reported, has taken a hand in the proceedings against the wrong doer. Suit for damages amounting to $10,- 000 was filed in the county court of Me Henry county by the girl as reparation for the personal injury which she as serts has been done her by her former employer. Last week a charge involv ing an assault was preferred against the defendant. December A, 1900, is the date set by the girl as the time when she was assaulted, she says. A hearing on the first charge will be conducted on Friday of this week at Woodstock by Police Magistrate Jones. Late in November Mary Mortensen applied for work at the Nunda hotel and was given employment. Suspect ing friends thought that the country girl had come to town in order to be close to a Crystal Lake youth with whom she was said to have been ke< ing company for some time and to whom she was engaged to be married. The tnrn of affairs has cast •y thoughts of marriage from the minds of the young people, but the sweetheart of thegirl.it is rumored, has encour aged the damage suits, to avenge him self. While the first legal process in volved only the charge, the damage suit asking* for the large sum of $10,000 is said to have been advised by friends of the girl. CREAMERY NEARLY COMPLETE.
