THIRTY-SEVENTH CONVENTION OF ILLINOIS STATE DAIRYMEN'S ASSO­ CIATION. Programs will be out this week for the thirty-seventh annual convention of the Illinois State Dairymen's asso­ ciation to be held in Elgin Jan. 16-19. A treat which visitors can easily en­ joy is attendance at a meeting of the Elgin board of trade Monday afternoon, Jan. 16. In the evening Dean Russell of the Wisconsin Agricultural college will give a lecture dealing with the economic side of the tuberculosis prob­ lem. The formal opening of the conven­ tion will take place Tuesday morning, Jan. 17. There will be an address of welcome and response, the annual ad­ dress of President L. N. Wiggins and an address by Prof. W. J. Fraser, chief of dairy department, University of Illi­ nois, on "Systems of Dairy Farming." An address by S. 6. Shilling of Chi­ cago Tuesday afternoon, "Practical Dairy Suggestions;" an address by H. J. Credicott, formerly government but­ ter inspector in Chicago, on "necessity of quality and buying cream on grade" and by H. G. Van Pelt, in charge of dairy extension work in Iowa, will make up the Tuesday afternoon pro­ gram. Mr. Van Pelt is an authority on the dairy type, of cows and will use animals from the exhibit to illustrate his address. Wednesday mprning is to be given over to a lecture by Dr. Peters of the State Board of Livestock Commission­ ers of Illinois. Dr. Peters will discuss diseases of the udder and will present many illustrations to emphasize his points. At the Wednesday afternoon session J. E. Dorm an, editor of Prairie Farm­ er, will discuss "Silos and Ensilage;" A. J. Glover of Ft. Atkinson, Wis., "The Relation of Milk Production to Fertility," and W. W. Marple of Mun- cie, Ind., the "The Care of Milk." Wednesday evening's program will be interesting, Dean Davenport of the Illinois College of Agriculture will lec­ ture on the needs of the college. There will also be addresses by Hon. C. J. Lindley of Greenville, 111., and others. Speaker Shurtleff will be invited to attend the convention and speak to the members. On Thursday morning the tubercu­ losis demonstration will be the event that should attract the dairymen. On Thursday afternoon J. P. MVson and others will speak and a business ses­ sion will close the convention. The exhibit space for cattle is filled and that for machinery and supplies as well. Tomorrow (Friday) evening two of the most important games of basket ball of the season will be pulled off at the city hall in this village. The con­ testants will be the boys' and girls' teams of the Woodstock and McHenry high schools. Woodstock has always been well up in school athletic sports and the teams come to McHenry to­ morrow night with a clean slate, not having lost a game this season. The visitors will be opposed by teams hav­ ing equally as good a record and red hot contests may be looked for. The winning of these two games will place a great deal of confidence into our boys and girls and it will probably mean the championship of the county to Mc­ Henry. All the local boys and girls ask of the public is a good turn out and they will do the rest. Now let's show them that our hearts are in the right place by giving them a packed house.
