Countess Artina, a pure bred Holstein owned by Chas. W. Gibbs, has the highest individual milk record for the month with 1677 pounds. The cow in second place is Lady Meika, a pure bred Holstein owned by Anton Schmitt. She has to her credit 1618 pounds of milk, testing 4.2 per cent, making a total of 67.96 pounds of butterfat for the month, which gives her first honors for fat production for the month. Seventy-four cows produced more than 1000 pounds of milk or forty pounds of fat during the month. This is just about fifty per cent of the number for last month producing the same amount and the reduction in number is due mainly to the shortness of the month of February. Eleven cows produced more than 1400 pounds of milk or fifty pounds of fat during the month. Chas. W. Gibbs has the highest herd production, his eleven cows averaging 1194 pounds !«(f; ftrilk par eow tor tiki month. • Five pure bred Holstein cows wefl»r purchased during the month and oii| mechanical milker was installed. A Growing Bushwu 9 The McHenry bakery is. one of the local institutions which has recent^ showed signs of growth and prosperity. The proprietor, Albert Lallinger, found a short time-ago that the , business had grown to such proportions that he was no longer able to take care of the business alone. Thus he has secured the services of a firsfcclass baker and the institution is natpr putting out more goods than ever b*»/ fore. Since acquiring the services of this expert baker, Mr. Lallinger has given more attention to the finer pastry, which is now being ^turned out in large quantities. Each day the display window at the bakery Is filled with a fresh batch of this pastry and from the manner in which it disappears we are led td believe thfet same is finding ready sale.- The Mm*" Henry people have, no doubt, discovered that the local institution is turning out just as good bakery as any of them and thus the patronage of the place keeps on growing.
