After the almost-; drowning of their small daughter i last week, the Hoffmans thought the luck was changing, but on Tuesday of this week, disaster struck again. Richard, aged six, was riding m of the house on his bicycle when he apparently lost control and fell with the bicycle on him. Both bones in his left wrist were brokeq. That good neighbor of the Hoffmans, Dr. Raymond Watkins, was again < hand for the first aid. This will be sponsored by the Lily Lake Beautifying club. w Tickets are now on sale for the mid-summer dance, given by the Teen-Agers, at Club Lilymoor on August 3. Saturday evening saw the first of Lily Lake's many summer parties held. This^ was given as a surprise on Kenny Thomson. The hostesses were Mrs. Thomson, Patricia Gilmore and Rosemary Blanchar. The evening was filled with merriment as the many guests enjoyed, outdoor dancing, a light luncheon ana a bonfire rally. As last Sunday afternoon passed by cars were seen driving down to the Vachet residence. There was a bit more activity than usual, so an investigation was surely in order. I found that the friends and relatives of the Vachet's had gotten together and thrown a surprise picnic on the folks. This was the way Mr. and Mrs. Post Vachet celebrated their wedding anniversary. Congratulations are also in order for Mr. and Mrs. Gold. -They also had a wedding anniversary on Simday. At this time, let's welcome a few newcomers into our community . The following newcomers are now permanent residents of our neighborhood. A few weeks back, Mr. and Mrs. Steadman, • along with their four children, Patricia, Jean, Judith and Edward Jr., moved into one of Mrs. Simmon's cottages. Mrs. Steadman is Mrs. Simmon % daughter. The beginning of last week saw Mr. and Mrs. Paul Conrad moving into their newly purchased home. This was formerly the Boyko residence. Still another name can be added to our list of permanent residents. It is that of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Sternberg. The Stern bergs have purchased the Lucas home. They formerly lived in Lake Forest. On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Nielson gave a party. This was in honor of Mrs. Keller. Among those j present were Mr. Keller, and Mr. and Mrs. Willert. I The Pinochle club met last Thursi day evening at the home of Mrs. Normand. Cards were enjoyed and i all partook of a lovely luncheon. Prizes went to Mrs. McDermott and {Mrs. Krieger. j WeVe seen a familiar face around j lately. It is that of one of four returned servicemen. After receiving his discharge. Gene Boro, mage his 'way for home and has arrived. Gene | is still undecided as to what he will ! do now that he is out. j That's quite a trip the McDermott's had. Driving down to Nor- I folk, Va., and after waiting five days • to have been informed it would dock at New Orleans. Upon arriving at j New Orleans, they received a wire i ! an hour later from the Red Cross! informing them the boat had docked that day in Norfolk. The McDer- ! mott's were anxious to meet this ! boat as Mrs. McDermott's sisters, i Mary and Helen, also a brother, Joseph, slavia. were arriving from Yugo- Our story ends as the folks meet their long awaited relatives in Chicago.
