The first step under the new plan was the resolution passed at the directors' meeting recommending that stockholders of the company at their annual meeting in January, increase the present capital from $50,000 to $160,000. This additional capital will make it possible for the company to qualify under the laws of the State of Illinois to guarantee titles to real estate in McHenry county. The McHenry County Title company was organised in 1938 as a result of the merger of McHenry County Abstract company ami Richards, Jewett and Wright Abstract company. Since that time, in addition to its iprincipal business „ of making abstracts of title, it has issued title guarantee policies of Chicago Title and Trust company. In March, 1946, the company was re-organized and Richard E. Duff, formerly with the Illinois Title company, was employe^ as manager. .Mr, Duff and nis office staff have made real progress fy improving the services of the company. The issuance of its own policies, however, in addition to making abstracts, will enable the company to offer a com- *plete title service to real estate investors in this county. The directors of the company feel that this expansion of the company's facilities is necessary to serve adequately the needs arising from the rapid growth <of McHenry county and the future developments the' are expected in McHenry County real estate.
