The Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America were, in 1933 granted a McHenry County franchise to cross the roads in the County with a 20 inch pipe llpe. One of the roads crossed was the Woodstock-A Idea Road known as Section 33 MFT in the vicinity of the McCauley UraU^ers farm. There U a change of alignment at a curve and the new road now under construction is east of the old roadway and beyond the double casing. To extend the outer casing would cost about 12 or 18 hundred dollars and according to a recent U. S. Supreme Court decision the County would be liable for this cost. It happens that the new road will be higher than the old road and there is more fill over the pipe lines. The County Superintendent of Highways was of the opinion that because of the deeper fill over the pipe a double casing was unnecessary. The State Highway Department is also of the same opinion and approve the omitting of the double pipe. The Natural Gas Pipeline Company also agrees that the double casing is not needed, "ittt desire the Countv ta be responsible 'or any damage to the road that might lappen In the futuro.
