The following Resolution concerning Flv« faint* Sufftttid ~ fi Curb Hoc Infto^a American farmers were warned that swine influenza may cause new, record-breajiing financial lasses,, . "This disease is a danger to swine, Just as it is to people, in cold weather," American Foundation for Animal Health declared. "This year, in view of high prices and food shortages, widespread outbreaks would be a major disaster." A five-point plan to prevent swine influenza losses was recommended: "Keep hogs away from old straw stacks, manure piles and contaminated lots, where they may pick up the virus of influenza. , "Provide clean, draft-free quarters, with ample bedding. "Keep clean, fresh drinking water before the hogs all the time. "Combat internal parasites. One species -- the lungworm -- is known to harbor the virus of swine 'flu. "Watch for the sumptoms of 'fltt-- jerky breathing, coughing, loss of appetite and fever. At the first sign of disease, obtain a veterinary nosis and start the proper ment." New Synthetic Gems . New synthetic rubies, sapphires and emeralds in settings of palladium sparkle as radiantly and cost considerably less than real gems. Scientifically manufactured and expertly cut into baguette shapes, the popular synthetic stones possess almost the same properties of brtU liancy and clarity as their natural counterparts. Featured in engagemeat rings are synthetic blue and white sapphires, rubies and emeralds used as side stones. Palladium, is selected as the gem mounting because this platinum sister-metal's brilliant white color mirrors the inherent sparkle of the gem, and is highly regarded by craftsmen for its ability to hold the stone securely. In 1889, a report read to American Medical association by Dr. Samuel Gross represented a change in current thinking which since has become universally accepted. The report stated that nursing was as much of an art and science as medicine, and urged that "training schools" for nurses be established in connection with hospitals in all sections of the country. First full course in nursing in this country under the aegis of a university was given in IBM, when University of Minnesota began such, a program. Witchcraft Illegal Witchcraft, although illegal Jr South Africa, is still very deep-rooted in the kraal native. The age-old superstitions of a primitive, people art ftot overcome in 1 generation, and the witchdoctors are jealous of their power.
