Taking a census is a customary , procedure in all Leagues' work. Heard that Calvin Kolar was surprised by dozens of his friends on Saturday night who came to honoi him cm the occasion of his twentyfourth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Alletag of Wickline Bay, and their two children, Joan and Eric, leave on July 81 for Binghamton, N. Y., where "Jed" will start a new job with "Ansco." From the east prior to moving here, Mr. and Mrs. Alletag have longed to return to their home and will be much nearer when they get settled in their new home. The house occupied by the Alletags will have new tenants, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller who are moving here from McHenry. 10 and 11 a.'in. Confessions will be heard before each mass. Also on August 1, the Altar and Rosary Society will have their Communion Sunday and on August 6, the Altar and Ropary will hold its regular meeting- with Mrs. Alma Marx as hostess. On Friday, August 6, which is First Friday, there will be mass and Communion at 6 a. m. This Thursday evening, July 29, starting at 8 p. m., the Altar and Rosary is sponsoring a special party to which the public is invited. Games will be played. A dinner was held recently at the Mill Inn for the employees of the Bowman Brothers Shoe Store' in Woodstock to honor them for having been tops in sales of Kedetts and Strollers over thirteen other Bowman stores. Among the employees of the store present at the dinner was Roland Porter of Wonder Lake and his wife. ' 4^-H News The Local Achievement Day of the two 4-H clubs of Wonder Lake will be held on Friday evening, July 31, at the Harrison school, starting at 8 p. m. There will be a program and a style review. Both clubs are busy getting ready for the big Gospel Center The !|§Ny Vacation Bible fichool closed its two weeks of studies last Friday night, July 23, with a fine program presented by the pupils before an audiencc that actually crowded the chapel. The school had an enrollment of eighty with an average attendance of fifty-nine, which is a substantial increase over last year. The staff of teachers and workers consisted of Mrs. Dick Oldson, superintendent; Mrs. Franklin Anderson, Miss Jean Block, Mrs. George Lisenby, Mrs. Jack Bernhardt, Miss Vendla Henrickson, Mrs. Frank Anderson, Dick Oldson, S. J. Swenson and the pastor. Be sure and get down and lend a little support to our neighbors to the north. v u Sailboat Race Is , Postponed by Weather The Class "A" sailboat race, scheduled (by the Wonder iLake Yacht club for last Sunday morning, had to be' posponed until later in the season due to the extremely heavy winds which approached gale intensity. Only the 5-hp. outboard race was run in the afternoon, with Paul Steinle winning and Frank Wish coming in second. The other outboard races were postponed because of the heavy seas. Another , race for aM classes of outboard will be held next 2 p. m. off Sunday afternoon, August 1, at Horn's Lakeview Inn pier. Willard Jay Freyer, Jr., .arrived at the Woodstock hospital .on July 22v to be added to the housnold of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Freyer of Wonder Woods. He weighed 8 pounds. The little boy is a grandson of Mrs. William Vogel of Hebron and of Mrs. Sophia Freyer of Beloit, formerly of Capron.
