The annual report will also be given. / Woman's Club To Sponsor Card Party • > The dessert card party for the benefit of the McHenry Woman's club will be held Tuesday, Jiilv 8, at the V.F.W. clubhouse, starting at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served and a number of prizes will be awarded for the afternoon play. CRYSTAL LAKE; -- McHENRY LADIES ENJOY GUEST DAY A very successful guest day was held at the McHenry Country club last week Tuesday, with about fifty women from Crystal Lake and McHenry gathered for a morning of golf. At 1:30, a delicious luncheon was served, preceded by the serving of refreshments from a huge punch bowl. The table was decorated with bowls of red roses donated by Mrs. Floyd Covalt, Jr. Prizes for the day's events were awarded by Mrs. Vale Adams to Mrs. Bollman, Mrs. Earle fieepe and Joan Delfosse. Prizes were also merited by the guests from Crystal Lake. Ladies who attended are looking forward to meeting again on Aug. 20, when the McHenry women will be guests at the Crystal Lake Country club. Mr. and Mrs. John Freund of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Freund of Barrington have returned from a vacation trip into Minnesota and Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bauer, Mr. and Mrs; John R. Freund, Joe ML Freund, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bauer were among loca» folks who attended the wake of Henry Freund }n Waukegan last Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nickels of Barrington spent Sunday visiting McHenry relatives. Ed. Freund and the Misses Frances and Carolyn Bauer attended the wake of Henry Freund in Waukegan Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Schulz have been enjoying a trip to Jasper Park lodge in the Canadian Rockies. They also attended the Kiwanis I n t e r n a t i o n a l c o n v e n t i o n a t Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bailey have been vacationing in Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Buckner and daughter, Nancy, returned home last week after a visit with relatives at Carrier Mills 111. Miss Helen Welch of Woodstock was a McHenry caller one evening last week. Sister Mary Henry (Anna Bolger) and, a sister companion of Milwaukee, Wis., visited McHenry relatives recently. Mrs. Bernice Krueger and- children, Terry and Sharon Ann, and Mrs. Ben Justen traveled to Evansville, Wis., last Thursday. Terry remained for a few weeks at Wyler camp on Leota Lake. PAROCHIAL P.T.A. MAKING PLANS FOR AUGUST STYLE SHOW St. Mary's -St. Patrick's schoo1 P. T. A. is making plans for its annual style show, to be held In the beautiful new cafeteria of the McHenry Community high school. Many lovely models will show the newest fall fashions from the Betty Nielsen dress shop on Riverside Drive, preceded by the serving of refreshments. The exact date of the revue has not been set but it will be held some time the latter part of August. A very pleasant time is promised all who attend. The style show in previous years has been held at the Villa cluto at Pistakee Bay, which is unavailable to the public at this time. New Classified Ads Appear Old Ads Disappear. Reason --- Quick Result* LORRAINE GQSSE, LAWRENCE HAUG WED IN HOME CEREMONY In a lovely home service solemnized at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haug in Shalimar last Saturday, June 28, their son, Sgt. Lawrence Haug, claimed as his bride Miss Lorraine Gosse, daughter of the Al. Gosses of Richmond. Judge Albert Rauen officiated at the 2:30 o'clock ceremony in a room decorated with palms and baskets of summer flowers. The petite, dark-haired bride was charming in a ballerina length gown of white nylon tulle over satin. The bodice was of chantilly lace over satin, halter style, with lace jacket. Her braided tulle and pearl headpiece was held in place by a short veil and she carried a bouquet of white roses. \ Mrs. Dolores Borre acted'as matron of honor tor her sister, attired in a mint green dress, ballerina length, of nylon net over taffeta. She wore a wreath of painted daisies on her head and carried a bouquet of the same kind of flowers. William Hecht of McCullom Lake, a close friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Gosse chose a black dreSs, white trimmed, with accessories and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Haug was attired in a navy blue dress, white accessories and a similar corsage. A reception followed the service at the Haug home, with 100 guests in attendance. Next week the newlyweds will leave for California, where they will reside at Santa Barbara, near Camp Cooke, where the bridegroom is stationed. The former Miss Gosse is a graduate of the Richmond high school with the class of 1950 and has been employed by the Great West Insurance company in Chicago. Sgt. Haug, a 1948 graduate of the McHenry high school, attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier and before joining the Army was employed by the Chambers Gasket &' Manufacturing company in Chicago. He has been in service since last fall, having been called up with his National Guard unit. CARD OF THANKS We would like to take this means of thanking all those who supported our candidate. "Bud" Lieser is j patient at Hines Veterans' hospital, where he will be confined t for several more weeks. • McHENRY COUPLE EXCHANGED VOWS LAST SATURDAY In a quiet wedding service solemnized in the rectory of St. Mary's church last Saturday afternoon, June 28, at 4 o'clock, Mrs. Susan Steinsdoerfer and William Lawrence, both of McHenry, exchanged nuptial vows. Rt. Rev. Msgr. C. S. Nix officiated at the service. The bride was attractive in a salmon pink, nylon sheer, twopiece dress, with which she wore white accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Her only attendant was the groom's sisters, Mrs. Joseph J. Wegener, who chose a navy blue nylon sheer dress, white accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations; Joseph J. Wegener served as best man. : - The only witnesses to the wedding were Mr. arid Mrs. John Phannenstill, who joined the bridal party later in the evening at a wedding dinner served at Rustic Manor, Gurnee. The couple will reside in the bridegroom's home on Fox street. •- f t \ ' Thursday, July 3, 1952 EDWAL IS AWARDED ORDER BY VETERANS ADMINSTRATION McGuire-Knaack Vows Exchanged In Woodstock The rectory of St. Mary's church, Woodstock, was the scene of a pretty wedding ceremony on Saturday afternoon, June 28, which united Mrs. Mary McGuire of Hartland township and Henry Knaack of McHenry. The wedding service was performed at 3 o'clock. Attending the couple were Mary Frances McGuire, daughter of the bride, and Boyd Knaack of McHenry, son of the bridegroom. After a wedding trip to Washington state, the couple will reside at the home of the bride. Mr. Knaack is employed at Elgin. The Edwal Laboratories, Inc., at Ringwood, was recently awarded an order by the Veterans Administration for fifteen carloads of X-Ray photographic developers and; fixers. Edwal's offer was lower than that of four other nationally known manufacturers in bidding for this business. The photo packing line has been working full time on then normal orders from the General Electric company, X-ray department, and Remington Rand, Inc., as well as laying in a stock for sale during the plant vacation period during July. They are now working two shifts and Saturdays to complete the Veterans Administration order for shipment on the dates specified by the government.
