Refreshments .jwere in charge of Jay Walkington, Wesley Bruce, Anna Mae Aeison, Lois Hunt, Gordon Thomsoh and Sharon Rossman. Mary Jane and Patsy Bell had charge of the invitations. A short business meeting was held and they wished to thank members of the Home Bureau for thirty-six dollars towards the rent of the hall and the W.S.C.S. for twenty-fcur dollars also for ^he rent. Both groups will be ^heir guests in February. New books and registration cards were handed out. County awards that the members won were presented to them. Games were played and an enjoyable evening was had by all. The Bunco club ' held their Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Nick B. Freund at Mc- Henry Thursday. Prizes were Awarded to Miss Mae Wiedrich, Mrs. Thomas Doherty and Mrs. Oscar Berg. The Junior M.Y.F. group met at the John Hogan farm Saturday evening for their Christmas party. Games were played and lunch was served and gifts were exchanged. The W.S.C.S. will meet at the home of Mrs. F. N. Muzzy Cursday, Dec. 18. A pot-luclc mer will be served. UPHOLD LAW The recent decision of 2 State Supreme Court upholding the new Illinois law which calls for payment for care of mental patients in state hospitals is expected to bring about a substantial increase in collections for such pa re, according to officials of the state Department of Public Welfare. Up to Oct. 31, the department has collected $1,137,- 000 and has billed an additional $1,262,000. The reimbursement law became effective last Jan. 1, and was declared unconstitutional by a judge of the Cook County Court June 27. On Nov. 20, the State Supreme Court sustained all challenged sections cf the law. There is some talk of holding an old time fiddlers' contest in this village some time in the near future. If plans that arc under way carry through, the contest will be pulled off at* the, Central opera house. The members of the "Just Us" club will hold their fourth and last leap year dance of the year at Stoffel's hall on Saturday evening, Dec. 28. This club, which ia made up of some of McHenry's fairest daughters, has already held three very successful dances this year and the young ladies are going to close the year4 as it was opened by them, with one grand leep year dance.
