The Warriors were^W-Hhe warpath and wenj^-lsmackjintjb a press to Jxtf t-o stave off J any scoring activity on the part of the Zion-Benton team, known as the Zee-Bees' It didn't work. The ref was in good form and quick on the whistle. Warrior enthusiasm was running high. And they did foul (by standards of:modern day rules). The Second Quarter ft was in the second quarter when Ron Ford broke into scoring column and his two baskets were all that the McHenry five could get in that period. The' game was Jost right at this point, but of course was played out the regulation distance. After having 15 fouls called on them in the first half, the McHenry boys changed to a more deliberate style in the second half and got results. j In defense of" our home boys, it must be said that they were up against a couple of towering, big fellows in Smith and Cox. Smith handled himself smoothly for a lanky lad and turned in 22 points. Kastame was on the small side as basketball players measure today, but his floor play and 18 points would have looked good on our side. Well, that's enough for that game. There will be more games before this issue goes to press. It was a good game from a spectator's standpoint and especially pleas.ng if you happened to hail from Woodstock as the Blue Streaks were the winners, 53 to 47. In this one the Warriors took full command at the start of the game and it looked like a sure victory. But, 7 and 11 point loads faded away as the Streaks hit a hot, streak to finish< the half with a 31-28 lead. ,, . ' --Look Sharp-** in. "the til i rd quarter, the VfarrlrrS 'looked sharp and took the lead 39-34 as the Streaks scored only three points--all on free throws. McHenry had taken command. But, came the fourth period and. like Finnegan, we were off again. The Woodstock team seemed to get a big lift when K. Gustafscn entered the ^ame in the second quarter and went on to score 14 points in addition to putting a crimp in a great scoring start b$r Ron Ford. Fans had it figured out that Crystal Lake and Hebron would meet in the finals. Many were picking the Lakers for the championship. Along came the Blue Streaks from Woodstock to beat the Lakers 63 to 60 in overtime Tuesday night. Now it's Hebron vs. Woodstock in the Wednesday night finals. M Henry came into the spotlight when Sonny McDermott, came through by pinning his opponent. This was followed by Chuck Green, one of the top wrestlers on the team, losing" his . first match of the season. Then Gene Hughes brought a much needed victory to the team, by pinning his opponent in the remaining dying seconds of his match. Bob Krickl Sets New Record The next four matches were lost by the Warriors. Then they came back gamely when Bob Krickl broke Gil Mercure's old record for a quick pin by 30 seconds. Bob pinned his opponent in 29 seconds. This brought a close to the match and Arlington came out the victors by a score 41-15. The McHenry Wrestlers will wrestle a home match with Zion-Benton, Thursday, Dec. 18. This should prove to be a very good match and we hope to see all of you there.
