Of course, Harold has a good mop of hair, but is starting a club for the protection of less fortunate bald-headed men. You may have seen reports that a McHenry man leads the Elgin Watch City Bowling Tournament in the singles events. That fellow is Al. Leight. He bowled games of 234-179-182 for 595 actual pins.. Add to this a 153 handicap and the score Stands at 748. * Speaking of a different kind of handicap, Al doesn't believe • there is such a thing. The local post has sponsored a team for many years in this nation-wide program. A large percentage ^ of the present major league players played Junior Legion baseball during their high school days. McHenry will again participate in the Junior Legion McHenry County Baseball League. Plans ^re being made for an eight or nine team league. Woodstock, is the defending champion. New Uniforms • - Any boy who has not reached his seventeenth birthday before January 1, 1953 is eligible to play Junior Legion Baseball. The McHenry Post invites any boy in the McHenry Area to try out for the team. . It, is hoped that the schedule can be worked out so not to conflict with the games of the Fox Valley League in which some boys in this area compete. The post invites boys from Johnsburg, Ringwood, Lake mo or, McCullom Lake, Volo. Wonder Lake arid any others from the community to try out for the team. It is hoped that the boys in this age bracket will show enough interest to warrant the post's purchasing new uniforms. The start cf practice will be announced at a later date. All home trames and practice sessions will be held r»t the City Baseball Park. Any boy who did not reach his seventeenth birthday before Jan. 1, 1953 and is interested in playing Junior Legion Baseball is asked to send his name, address, telephone number and date of birth to: Junior legion Baseball Station Box 13 MeHenry, Illinois SHAMROCKS OFF TO GOOD START WITH 4-0 WIN "Sonny" Miller Hurls 2-Hit Game At Crystal Lake Manager "Sonny" ^ Miller got Tjiis team off to a good start last Sunday at Crystal Lake as the "Micks" won 1»y a 4 to 0 score. Miller pitched a 2-hit shutcut in leading his team to victory and allowed nary a free pass to first base. Th^T Shamrocks showed lack of batting practice with only four safe blows rattling off their bats, but eight walks might indicate that the boys were looking 'em over. - - Guv Bolger proved that, age doesn't mean a thing as he backed up first base on an overthrow in the second inning to cut down a runner going to second. Manager Miller thought rookie Rob Weber looked "mighty good" as he laid down a perfect squeeze bunt in the eighth for a safe hit. The Micks looked plenty sharp for their first game and look for added, punch when the Judson boys return and start swinging big bats. Shamrocks AB B G. Molidor, 3B 4-0 J. Bolger. SS 5 0 D.
