WALSH City Clerk SEVEBAL HUNDRED HEAR!) CONCERT BY BOYS TOWN CHOIB FIBEMEN ANSWERED THREE CALLS IN PAST FIVE DAYS Choral singing at Its finest was presented before several hundred music lovers in the McHenry high school gymnasium last Tuesday evening. The performers were fifty-eight members of the famous Boys Town choir in Nebraska, which has just started a fall tour of concerts which will bring them home the first part of December. The program was divided into thrift parts. The first consisted of selections by the old masters, concluding with a number of beautifully executed hoTidfy numbers. The second section included first a series of numbers by composers of another period and continued with parts of several Masses by more modern -composers. The third pare opaned with such favorites as "Erie Canal" and "Deep River" and concluded with Viennese songs which were purchased for the choir in 1948 by Fr. Flanagan, who died in Berlin before he could return with the music. It was found in his luggage and returned to Fr. Schrhitt, director of the choir, who has since that time included the. numbers in his programs in memory of the beloved founder of Boys Town. It would have been difficult, in talking to members of the audience after the concert, to determine whether it was the angelic voices of the youngsters in the group or the appeal of their individual personalities that more completely won their listeners. It would be safe to assume that both their outstanding talent and their boyish charm contributed to the enthusiasm with which they were received. The young men were' welcomed into various homes in the community after the program and then left Wednesday by bus for their next concert stop. This outstanding group of singers was brought to McHenry by the Catholic Order of Foresters, with arrangements being made by Paul R#1 Yanda, instrumental music director in the local high school; '" Homemade electric stock fences can be death traps if they are not controlled, by /yaw approved pnergizer. The family had been out from Chicago earlier in the day and left for the city about 6 o'clock, according to reports. Neighbors thought they heard an explosion some time before the fire. Investigation by firemen led to the belief that the flames started near an oil burner, where an explosion Slight have occurred. Further investigation is being carried on. Considerable corn was destroyed in a field at the Some Day farm on Rt. 31, south of the city, last Saturday afternoon when fire from neighboring property spread.
