April 11 _ Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary by holding open house for their many fi lends at their home at Ringwood. A family dinner wa? enjoyed at noon by the Williams and their seven children. Earlier in the day an anniversary Mass was read at St. John's church. May 9 -- Mr. and Mrs. Adclph Urban of Knollwood, McCullom Lake, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They have been local residents for ten years. The Erbans have five children, Vincent, Ann Schereck, Mary Sorce, Dorothy Ranos and Minnie Harrest; also thirteen grandchildren and, six greatgrandchildren. June 4 -- Mr. and Mrs. Julian Bernacchi of Chicago; the parents of Mrs. Albert Barbian, celebrated their golden redding anniversary. June 7 -- Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schulz of Johnsburg celebrated their fiftieth wediing anniversary June 7, with dinner for the family in Chicago. August 29 -- Mr. and Mrs. James A. Freeman, formerly of McHenry and now residing in Chicago, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Van Oeyen, Jr.. at Fernwood subdivision. Mr. Freeman has been an employee of the Armstrong Brothers Tool company in Chicago for more than fifty years. The couple has two daughters, Mrs .Van Oeyen and Miss Lorraine Freeman. Octber 18 -- Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Wagner of Spring Grove celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary when open house was held in their honor in St. Peter's church hall. Five children were present to assist in the memorable celebration. October 24 -- Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gruber of Lakemoar celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in Chicago. The Grubers were married in Hungary and came to America in 1907 They have been residents of Lakemoor since Mr. Gruber's retirement as a cabinet maker in 1947. Oct. 25 -- Fifty years of married life was cause for celebration by Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kamholz of Cary. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kamholz (Minnie Feltz) were born in McHenry, where Mr. Kamholz was employed by the Borden Milk company. The Kamholz' have one son and three grandchildren. Nov. 6 -- Mr. and Mrs. William Oeffling of Johnsburg celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary, making them one of^^the longest married pairs in this area. They have five children, Mrs. Anna Guyser of Chicago. Mrs. Catherine Guzzardo of McHenry, Alfred. George and Peter. Nov. 11 -- Mr. and Mrs. John Blake of 300 N. Green street, observed their golden wedding anniversary with a High Mass in their honor at St. Mary's church. Later, members of their families gathered at Hettermann's at Johnsburg to enjoy dinner. The celebrants have five children, Mrs. Eva Nye of McHenry, Mrs. Rcgina Reinert of Elgin, George P., Albert S. and Arnold M. Blake of McHenry. Nov. 21 -- A memorable reunion was held in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Peter W. Frett of Kenosha, Wis., when friends and relatives gathered at the home of their daughter, Mrs. W. H. Tolly an, to celebrate the occasion. The Fretts also have a son, Edward J. of McHenry. Nov. 26 -- Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Justen of Waukegan, both natives of the Johnsburg community, observed their golden wedding, celebration by holding open house. They have one son, five daughters, eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildrert. PRISON SUPERINTENDENT Governor William G. Stratton has appointed Champaign County Sheriff James E. Denney, of Urbana, as Superintendent of Prisons in the state Department of Public Safety, effective Feb. 15, 1954. Denney will succeed Frank Trapp, who resigned last September. A former prison guard at the Pontiac branch of the state penitentiary, Denney served more than three years in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was wounded twice. He left the Army with the rank of staff sergeant.
