Attending from McHenry county will be Mrs. Pet^er Schuler, Harvard, county president, Mrs. Thurlow York, Chemung, county vice-president, and three members of the county membership committee, Mrs. William Burke, aMrengo, Mrs. Paul Witt, Crystal Lake, and Mrs. Ruth Fenwick, Huntley. In addition, each vicechairman of the twenty-four Home Bureau units may attend. The day's program will include a luncheon and talks and presentations by the state officers and state home economics extension workers, with whom the Home Bureau cooperates. All members are asked to bring their jams and jellies for the Fruit and Flower guild to the home of Mrs. George Johnson, Main street, before the next meeting. They will be taken to the Elgin State hospital. ' The next meeting will be held Sept. 27 at Woodstock, with Mrs. Joseph Waynne as hostess. A style show will' be presented for members. Simon Infant Is Christened The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Simon was christened Theresa Marie in a baptismal service at St. Mary's church Sunday, with Fr. KARLS MARRIED SATURDAY Miss Shirley Wegener, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wegener of McHenry, became the bride of Mr. William J. Karls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Karls of Richmond, at a simple but lovely wedding service performed Saturday, Sept. 3, in the rectory of St. Mary's Catholic church. The double ring rite took place at 10:30 o'clock. The charming blonde bride chose a white chantilly lace and nylon tulle dress, styled full length with chapel train. Her three-quarter length veil was held in place by a cap of lace and pearls and she carried a bridal bouquet of Amazon lilies and stephanotis. Miss Marcella Etten, a close friend, acted as maid of, honor and bridesmaids were Miss Joan Wegener, sister of the bride, Mrs. James Kline of McHenry and Miss Joyce Kurz of Round Lake, friends. All were attired similarly in ballerina length gowns of blue nylon chiffon. They wore floral headpieces carried^Jjouqjjets of glads, the] mai<$ of fmhof'it of pink and yellow and the otliers of pink and white. Gordon Miller of Richmond, a close friend, served the groom as best man and groomsmen were Howard Katzenberg of Richmond, Paul May of Spring Grove, and Kenneth Adams of McHenry. Mrs. Wegener chose for her daughter's wedding a navy blue silk dress, white accessories and a white orchid corsage. a white orchid ' corsage. The groom's mother wore purple with black accessories. Breakfast was served at noon at the V.F.W. clubhouse for thirty members of the 'two families and members of the bridal party. At 5:30, a reception and supper were enjoyed by 350 guests, at which time Mrs. James Wegener sang several selections. On Sunday, the couple left on a short honeymoon trip into Wisconsin and upon their return will live on Fox street. The former Miss Wegener graduated from the local high school with the class of 1953 and is employed at the telephone office. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Gallas and son, John, of Mineral Springs, have returned from a two-week vacation, visiting their cousins in Marquette, Mich. After a stay, they journeyed to St. Ignace and on the ferry boat to the Strait of Mackinac to lower Michigan, visiting their cousins at Port Austin. The points - of interest and the beautiful scenery all along the trip will long be remembered by the tourists. Dana White of Cleveland, Ohio., arrived Saturday to spend some time with her grandparents, the Charles Lasches, before leaving to take qp studies at Earlham college. S. Johnson, was hostess at a tea recently for the magazine chairmen in this area. It is the aim of the council to have every P.T.A. member read the magazine this year. Suggestions and ideas on how to carry on the promotional work for the magazine were offered to the chairmen attending. Mrs. Nimtz, music chairman of the McHenry unit/ explained that many auxiliary units sponsor musical groups of young people.: They buy instruments and provide instruction , for promising young musicians. They take |>art in the observance of music week and in promoting community musical activities. In keeping with this recognition of the importance of music at our unit meetings, we ask everyone to join in singing the National Anthem. We sing at conferences and at conventions. By singing together we believe, we are better &ble to work together.
