Arleen Wijas was godmother House Bill No. 815, passed by the 69th General Assembly, ,'effected five major changes in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Act. All of these changes had the approval of the Illinois Public Employees Pension Laws commission. The following changes, which become effective Jan. 1, 1956: 1. Reduce the minimum service requirement for the Formula Annuity from 20 to'15 years. 2. Lower the age at which the generally increased benefits of the (Formula Annuity are available, from 65 to age 55. 3. Increase the Normal Contribution for both male and female employees from 5 to 6 per cent of earnings. 4. Decrease the Widow Annuity contributions of male employees from 1% to 1 per cent of earnings. The fifth "Change, effective July 15, allowed employees, who qualify for an annuity of less than $20 per month, the option of taking an annuity or a refund of their contributions. RAISIN CARAWAY CASSEROLE BREAD H cup hot water Yi cup sugar IVi teaspoon* salt VA cap shortening Vi cup warm, not hoc, water (lukewarm for compressed yeast) 2 packages or cakes yeast, active dry or compressed 1 egg, beaten JW cups sifted enriched flour 1 cup seedless raisins 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional) Mix together hot water, sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Measure Vi cup water into mixing bowl (warm, not hot, water for active dry yeast; lukewarm water for compressed yeast). Sprinkle or crumble in yeast. Stir until dissolved. Self in lukewarm water mixture. Add egg, flour, raisins and caraway seeds. Stir until well blended, about 2 minutes. Let rise in warm place, free from draft, about SO minutes or until more than doubled in bulk. Stir down. Beat vigorously about Yi minute. Turn into greased IVi quart casserole. This is a .$25,000 increase in scholarships awarded in the 1954- 55 program when 187,463 high school senior girls from .8,040 schools sought the AH-American Homemaker of Tomorrow (title which was won !by Deloris Arnette of Enterprise,, Ala. In addition to a $1,500 scholarship to each state winner, there will be a new award of $500 to the homemaker rating second in each -atate. The scholarship of the national winner, who will be announced April 12 in Philadelphia, will be $5,000. The basis for selection of winners will be test scores in a written homemaking knowledge and attitude test developed by Science Research Associates of Chicago and McHenry. The test will be given in all participating high schools on Dec. 6. The project has the endorsement of the national contest and activities committee of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, a department of the National Education association. All twelfth grade girls in the nation's • public, private and parochial high schools who will graduate in 1956 are eligible to participate in the Betty Crocker Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow.
