Homecoming Queen A Wonder Lake girl, Kay Clark, was chosen homecoming queen at St. Mary's Catholic high school last Sunday. Another Wonder Lake girl, Helen Armstrong, was a member of her court and a candidate for the queen's crown. Kay Clark is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A1 dark and Helen is the daughter of the Harold Armstrongs. Two other Wonder Lake girls, Anne Lundborg and Sandi Sells, are candidates for McHenry homecoming queen this weekend. The queen will be crowned at *a dance tomorrow evening. One Wonder Lake boy, Robert Cormier, is a candidate for homecoming king. Garden Club The Wonder Lake Garden club will meet Thursday evening at 8 o'clock in the home of Mrs. William Fiala. Van ' Valkenbergh, 47, of Crystal Lake, superintendent of the Pure Oil company's researqh and development laboratories in that city, was killed early Sunday -morning when his car went out of control and overturned several times on Rt. 62, southwest of Barrington. , As a member of a bagpipe band, he had participated in the dairy show parade and was returning home when the accident occurred. |t is believed he may have fallen asleep at the wh&el. A pasing truck driver discovered the accident when he saw the headlights of the wrecked car in the field and stopped to investigate.
