Addition of the private benefits to state unemployment pay is being sought by the CDO-UAW as a result of contracts signed last summer with a number of companies in Illinois, including the Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation. "^At present, partial pay received during lay-offs is deducted from Illinois state unemployment compensation. ^ The five organizations are: Associated Employers of Illinois, Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry, Illinois Federation of Retail Associations, Illinois Manufacturers' Association and Illinois State Chamber of Commerce. The five groups announced the formation of the information committee on unemployment benefits. "The only legal way state uh- | employment benefits can be sup- j plemented is by changing the Illi- \ nois law," the committee said, I "and that is a matter for consideration by the state legtala* tute."
