M^ke Sch&efer, president of the Club, presided over the meeting and introduced Judge Henry Gowlln and son, Henry, Jr., of Crystal Lake. The judge and his " son' answered questions pertaining to incorporation by persons attending this open meeting. The petition has. been filed at the court house and we are now awaiting notice from the court as to a voting date. From the cans placed in our schools, the results were as follows: $11.50 from St. John's and $9.63 from the public school and $50.25 from the various business places. It is still not too late to contribute to this worthwhile cause if you haven't done so as yet. • Extend Sympathy We would like to extend our sympathy, to Mrs. William Oeffling and family upon the death of their husband and father. Mr. Oeffling pased away at his home last Thursday at the age of 87. He was laid tc? rest at St. John's cemetery last Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schmitt and children, Patty and Dale, were in Staceyville, Iowa, a few days last week to attend the funeral of Mrs. Schmitt's father. George Firsching passed away at the age of 77 after being ill only one day. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Schmitt in her bereavement'. Bowling Notations Well, the Forester bowling is all over and now to announce the winners. All these scores include handicap: Singles -- Clarence Smith, 652; Vincent Tonyan, 643. Doubles -- Jack Schmitt and Paul Tonyan, 1235; Jack Pierce and Bill Pierce, Sr., 1219. Teams -- Joe Hiller's team, 2992 (Art Klein, Joe Hiller, Georg-e Hiller, Leo Hiller and Sylvester Tonyan); Ed Hettermann's team, 2967 (Jim Hettermann, Gene King, Leo Michels, Eld Hettermann and Paul Boyk). The all'events award Went to Leroy Miller with 1657 for nine games. The party for the bowlers and their guests ,will take place at the Community club next Sunday, Feb. 12, at 5 o'clock. Dinner will be served from 6 to 7:30. A group of our fanners and their wives were in Woodstock last Saturday to bowl in the Farm Bureau tournament. Winner in the men's division was Mike Schaefer with a 558 series. In the ladies' division, Laura Schmitt took high honors with a 556 series. Marie Weingart had a 471 series and Isabelle Stilling a 430 series. All these scores are actual pins, no handicap. The district playoffs will be held in Rockford on Feb. 13. Birttkdays and Anniversaries Among those to join our birthday club are Mrs. Miabel Smith, whose birthday was on Feb. 1, Kathy Hettermann, Sandy Hettermann and Nancy KayV/Miller, all of whom celebrate their tenth birthdays this month, and David Oeffling, who will have his second birthday on Feb. 13. Happy birthday to one and all. Happy anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Smith, who observed their tenth anniversary on Feb. 6, and to Mr. and Mrs. Emitt Roberts, who will celebrate their second anniversary on Feb. 20. Best wishes to all. A Reminder Once again I have been asked by various persons to remind dog owners to keep their dogs at home. There have been several unleashed dogs, wandering through town and the Aibdivisions scaring children and making nuisance of themselves on people's lawns and gardens. Please, dog owners, keep your dogs in your own yard to prevent any trouble. Around The Town Pvt. Carl Neiss stopped here to see his wife and son last week enroute to a new school in Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Lasser entertained guests from Chicago for dinner Sunday. Among our new residents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Butler and family, who are-moving into the Ernest DiSilvestro home from McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. John Dehn and daughters, Joan and Rita, and Bill Beeshaw, all of Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dehn and family were Sunday dinner guests at the Jim Hettermann home to celebrate Mr. Dehn's fifty-seventh birthday. The Rudy Fischers entertained guests at their home in Jak-Ana Heights last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Laures of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Hank Nell of Sunnyside Bfeach, who are vacationing in Florida, gathered at the Jack Keenan home* in Pompano Beach to visit the Keenans and Mrs. Helen Hettermann.
