That afternoon after school, six of her girl friends came home with her they had a party including games, ice cream and cake and punch. Arlette received many nice gifts frdm her guests; Linda Lou Rietesel, Gayle McComb, Nancy and Louise Ruggero, Cheryl Schwarz, Darlene Murdock and Arlette's sister, Jill. Feb. 10, Philip Hastings of Wooded Shores celebrated his eleventh birthday; Present at his J»$*y given after school were: Pamela Bethke, Patrick Dolan, Patsy Thomas, George Moder, Betty Ooss, John Eberle, LOrrelle Vacuia, Tom Reynolds^ Kathy Bruscato, Donald Mahal, Darlene Basile, Billy Hansen, Bob Burn, George Sorensen, Charles Caiey, Douglas Sellek, Joyce Moore and the teacher of the fifth grade, Mr. Wenck.j Lots of fun was had playing games and eating cake awl drinking pop. Mrs. Lorraine deLourier was hostess and had' a birthday cake for Mrs. Grasser, who was surprised and pleased. Grasser motored to Chicago Saturday, Feb. 11, to see the Boat show and ^ve dinner to celebrate Mrs ser's birthday. Feb. 2 was the birthday of Judy Dolce of Wooded Shores. She was 14. On Feb.-.^4, a party was held at her. home, which was also a surprise party for Judy Bastian, whole birthday was Feb. 15. Those present were Barb Mahal, Jo Ann Miller, ' Kathie Mclnerny, Delores Formella and Miss Dorothy Drake- T$ty?d, physical education teacher «; at McHenry high school, who was a special guest. Beef"'barbecues, cake, ice cream and pop were served and an enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Mrs. George Wickline was hostess for a luncheon honoring Mrs. Tony Siebert and Mrs. Claudia Palmer. Mrs. Palmer's birthday was Feb. 8, the day of the ^lcheon, and Mrs. siebert celebrated her birthday last November but illness prevented a party at that time. Mrs. Frank Jeffries and Mrs. Eleanor Wright were guests also. ~ After the luncheon, an afternoon of ^ards was enjoyed. Judy Knackstedt of Indian Ridge celebrated her ninth birthday Thursday, Feb. 9.. Helping Judy and her family with the Celebration were Susan Jacobsen, Judy Fredricks, Judy O'Brian, Carol Wood and Jeanniejo Benoche. The girls feasted on ice cream and cake and enjoyed the usual party games. Enjoying Florida Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Epp of Wickline Bay are enjoying their visit in Florida. Mr. Epp, who had a birthday Feb. 4, is getting to play a lot of golf, his favorite sport. Schroeder has chosen "With, This Great Gift" as his sermon topic. • The Brotherhood of the church will meet Monday evening, Feb. 20, at 8. At this meeting, every member, present will receive a Brotherhood pin to wear, indicating that he is a member of Nativity Brotherhood. This pin is a replica of Martin Luther's official seal, and this seal will be explained. The symbolism of this beautiful seal was explained by Luther himself and a copy of this seal with his explanation will also be given to every member present. Wednesday, Feb. 22, a midweek Lenten service begins at 7:45 and the sermon topic is "A Time to Listen." This will be the second in a series of sermons entitled "The Time of Your Life." Injured in Fall Sig Jacobsen is at home recovering from a falll and feeling fortunate his Injuries aren't more serious. Feb. 1, as he was leaving a business place in Harvard, he stumbled at the top of a cellarway and fell backwards down about fourteen cement steps. He was knocked unconscious for several minutes and then was helped to a doctor by the businessman he had just left. The doctor treated his head, which was cut and bleeding and gave him a shot to combat the state of shock. Sig then drove home, feeling not too bad but later on that evening he went to the hospital. X-rays were taken and they revealed a concussion ang cracked rib. He rested in the hospital five days. He is not yet able to be very active and Mrs. Jacobsen is carrying on the business as best she can. Twenty-three Girl Scouts had a splash party at the high school in Woodstock last week and a splashing good time was had by all. Pantry Shower For {Sisters The Sisters of St. Mary's parish .in McHenry have been travel ling to Wonder Lake each Sunday for the past few years to teach the church school class at Christ the King church. Sisters. M. Alba.-and M. Austicia have been doing a fine job this year in teaching approximatey seventy youngsters in attendance. In appreciation of the time and effort these Sisters and others of previous years have given to the church, a pantry shower was given them Sunday, Feb. 12, by parents of the chidren attending church school class. The parents Infant Death The sympathy of friends and neighbors goes to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jaeschke upon hearing of the death of their infant daughter, born Feb. 7. Surviving besides the parents are two brothers and two sisters. Lake Bible church-missionary guild and also a surprise baby shower for Mrs. Harry Pierce, a member of the guild. The social event of the day was the baby shower. A small cradle complete with baby doll was decorated in white, with pink and blue streamers to each gift around it. Mrs. Joseph Benoche was in charge of the special centerpiece and decorations. At noon, "Mrs. Tom Johnson of rural Woodstbtsk served a delicious chop suey luncheon, witH many extra dishes. Pastor Richard Wright led the ladies in the devotional period of the meeting. Reid, Jr., of Aurora and Charles J. Miller of McHenry for delegates to the Republican National Nominating convention and Edward J. Hutchens of" Hinsdale an<L:A. J. The 42 now joining the force graduated last week from the police academy at Springfield.
