McCullom Lake News By Eve Le^mqM #i- Tax Bills In the next few weeks, property owners will be receiving annual tax bills. We received information that the average tax bill will be increased about eight to nine dollars, due to the incorporation. This money will come back to the village to be used for our own improvements. However, there will, be a general increase <tae to the building of new OTnools, which has nothing to do~ with incorporation. This year, for the first time in its history,# McCullom Lake will get a return on monies paid out. for taxes. It's a good feeling, isn't it? Every adult member of the community is invited and urged by President Jake Levesque to attend the village board" meetta. They af-e held every second and fourth Monday at the beachhouse. The village council was put in office 'by you to serve you. Come to the . meeting • so you Will be better informed on community affairs. Successful Drive The Red Cross drive was conducted last Thursday and Friday;5 with Mrs. Pearl Nerstad as chairman. Our community was .canvassed by Louise Passal, Lee Brocken, Lou Weingart, Elsie Fluger, • Helen Pokorny, Jean. Reid and Myrtle Burg. Fifty-five dollars and fifty cents was realized from the drive. Anyone who was .not contacted may still send a contribution' to the American Red Cross, MeHenry. Practical Progress The new sighs which were installed along the blacktop last vj^ek serve to identify our vill^ e and also to protect our pedestrians from speeders. Chief Dave Hansen and Police Officers Larry Murray and Greg Burg worked diligently and efficiently to finish the job in record time. There is no doubt about the fact that we are now really ON THE MAP! Exercise Your Birthright fclt's a sad fact that many of our naturalized citizens have a greater awareness of the privilege of voting in a free country than those of us who were born with this right. Regardless of your party politics, do your duty on Tuesday, April 10, and go to the polls and vote. The response for registration was very good in our village, ^th forty-two people registering wuh Clerk Emma Pyritz by March 12., If you need a ride to tlie polls on Tuesday, call Max Kolin, 566- W-l; Theresa Schultz, 665-R-l; Bill Hecht, 547-J-2; or your reporter, 2171. School Board Election The village beachhouse has been designated as a polling ace for Saturday, April 14, to lect members of .the. school board. The polls will be often from 12 noon until 7 p.m. Time of Their Lives From 125 to 150 youngsters broke from the barricade rope at 4 Sunday afternoon. There was a wild scramble to start recovering* the 450 colored eggs which had been hidden earlier in the day. Thiswas the first egg hunt held- in our community and credit •for the. party must go to Art Stuhlfeier and Gene Piotrowski, who engineered the affair. They received wonderful cooperation from the ladies of the village who supplied the eggs. The response was terrific. Many of the donors were women who had no children of their own. Cheryl Budasi, Janet Hansen and Joanne Reid found the eggs marked first prize and received dolls for their efforts. Second prize toys were awarded to Diane Bjork, Teddy Olsen and Patrick Neyden. Kathy Doran, Ed Neyden and Anita Tomasello received gifts for finding the most eggs. Judy Hocin, Ed Caron, Bob Cable, Phyllis Piotrowski and Angelo Budasi helped to keep the' little ones under control and distributed prizes. rjTo community doings would be complete without the help and cooperation from those "wonder workers," Louise Hammerstein, Betty Poledrta and Ruth Smith. Sunday was a day to be remembered for a long time in the memories of our small fry. Save Yourself a Fine The grace period for purchasing vehicle tags has expired and Violators of this village ordinance will be prosecuted. Buy your sticker and save money and grief. All dogs must have rabies shots and have a village dog tag. See Emma Pyritz and buy yours Club Dates . All organizations Ineet in the beachhouse.
