Illinois Education Association UNIQUE FEATURE OF SCOUT CAMPOREE MAY 19-20 EXPLAINED One of the most unique features of the Blackhawk Area council camporee, to be held at the Winnebago county fairgrounds at Pecatonica on the weekend of May 19 and 20, is the fact that all cooking done will be accomplished on small charcoal burners. No actual cooking fires will be built. Not only is this the first such event in the history , of the Blackhawk Area council, Boy Scouts of America, but it also makes the* first attempt at such a mass cooking effort -- entirely on charcoal. The theme of the new fouryear program of the* Jfoy - Scout movement, "Onward For God and My Country," stresses several points of emphasis, such as: Prepared in body; prepared in skill; prepared in spiritprepared in will; and prepared as a member of a team. In line with .the conservation phase of the program, there will be no problem of erasing the scars from thousands of cooking fires from the ground, and best of all, no danger of fires getting out of control. There is also the factor of speed and safety -- there will be no wasting of time cutting literally thousands of large chunks of wood by the cord into fuel, and then too -- no danger of chopping accidents. The wooded areas and camping grounds of Pecatonica will make a most, beautiful setting for this huge spectacle of nearly three thousand ^Scouts, Explorers, and Scouters from all sections of the six county .area of the Blackhawk Area council who will all be participating in this, their first council camporee. Plan now to visit* the grounds and s£e these citizens of tomorrow in full action. SETTER SCH001S BUILD BETTER COMMUNITIES th of the CLAIRE BEAUTY SHOPPE 200 So. Green Si. PHONE 10 McHenry, ill.
