The handsome, rose-colored rock has a flat surface on which will be mounted the dedication plaque. A graceful chain fence encloses the small bit of hallowed ground. Inside the enclosure is mounted the graceful flagpole on which our national colors will be flown. Beautiful evergreen bushes are "planted on either side of the stone. A gravel walk leads from the * entrance of the park right up to the rock itself. A great deal of careful planning and handwork went into this project bui the efforts were most rewarding. Ole Olsen, Ed Hammerstein, Sr., and Jr., Ben Gates, Art Stuhlfeier, Max Kolin, Nick Huff, Ken Ebey, Jr., Lorch and Willard Schultz labored for many hours on Sunday, but their efforts were most rewarding. Theresa Schultz, chairman for the Memorial Day parade, has asked for all Girl, Boy and Cub Scouts, Brownies, members of the V.F.W. and American Legion and any other veterans desiring to take part in the parade to Register. Mrs. Betty Houck underwent surgery Monday morning at Memorial hospital. She has been a patient for twelve days and will be confined for a few days more. Our hopes are with her for a speedy recovery. Knowing her cheerful disposition, Betty is taking all this "in stride." Little Roberta Houck is doing a* fine job of tending house for her dad and brothers while mother is away. Accident Victims According to the latest report, Mrs. Evelyn Harrison and baby daughter, Linda, were released ^rom Sherman hospital, Elgin, last week. Mrs. Harrison has been confined to her bed. We pray that her recovery may be complete and soon. Cheerful Bobby Gates has become completely acclimated to his hospital surroundings. We heard that he has become the darling of all the nurses and aides. He has some sight in the ^njured eye and according to reports, there will be no permanent injury. With mother nature on his side, he. may be home for the weekend. His parents, Violet and Ben Gates, have suffered mental anguish since the accident and we fervently . hope their fears are all in the past! . Surgical Patients Mrs. Katherine Pardell was released from v Memorial hospital, Woodstock, i&st ~ = week. She /checked into a Chicago hospital for surgery in order to be closer to her children, who are living there. Hospitalized Leo Sales was rushed to Memorial hospital, Woodstock, last week because of a heart attack. In the Limelight --The Jim Pokorneys of Maple Hill drive are really in the news this week. It is with a great deal of- regret that we bid a fond farewell to this handsome couple and their cute little son. Their home is sold and the PokoAieys will be leaving for California soon, where they will take up permanent residence. They left our shores on Tuesday. Last Monday night, Jim took his lovely Helen to see "Teahouse of the August Moon," which they thoroughly epjoyed.
