Burton Schroeder, pastor, conducts two worship services each Sunday morning, at 8 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday School is held at 9:15 a.m. The sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be administered at both services Sunday, Aug. 5. The sermon topic for that day Infill be "Into Thy Courts.," The Women of the Church will meet on Monday evening, Aug. 6, at 8. As part of their missionary emphasis for the year, a movie entitled "In Japan -- Lutherans Foster Christian Education" will be shown. Plans will also be made on how to help provide Peter Rasmussen, our missionary to Japan, with material for a Sunday School wiat he will organize in his new field, Nagasaki,. irt: Japan. Nativity Plans New Building Nativity has grown to such an extent since its organization on Dec. 7, 1Q52, that it has far outgrown its present facilities for worship and Sunday School. Wans are being made to build a new church on the new church site just south of the present location in Parker's Highlands that will meet the needs of the growing congregation, Sunday School and community. Definite plans are now in progress for a fund raising campaign to take place from Aug. 12 to 25 to raise funds for the new church. The results, then, $om this campaign will determine the support to be received from the Board of American Missions of the United Lutheran Church when their representative, Dr. Elwood Bowman, director of Church Extension, will visit here in September to make plans for the new Church. The fund drive campaign will be carried out on the basis of a two-year pledge to the Nativ- Lutheran Church Building fund. The campaign is under the leadership of W. T. Peterson as general chairman. Bill Nielsen as prayer chain chairman, Ernie Vogt and Joe Lundborg as advance gift chairmen, A1 Krueger as treasurer and Virgil Burch as auditor. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cannon are in charge of fecial arrangements and the two division leaders are Bill Nielsen and Pete Nerstad. Ted Leckband is the chairman of the prospects committee. Bill Moore, Chuck Schwarz and Dave Ayers are in charge of publicity and Mrs. Virginia Young is secretary. The regular monthly fneeting of the ladies Altar and Rosary Successful Sale The rummage and bake sale held Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22, by the Altar and Rosary sodality was quite a successful affair. Mrs. Dorothy Nemsick was chairlady, with Mrs. Sylvia Swatik as co-chairlady. These, ladies were assisted by Mrs. Marie Bartz. All the ladies who helped and all who donated sale articles and baked goods were responsible for the success of this sale. There are already plans for another such sale next year. Wisconsin Bound The Martin Weisenburgers of Indian Ridge visited the Ted Meyer family in Thorp, Wis., last weekend. Mrs. Meyer is a sister to Gen. Weisenburger. Kiwanis Notes The guest at the July 23 meet-" ing of the Kiwanis of Wonder Lake was Mr. Scheidt of the South Chicago club. His favorably comments on the morale and activity of the club were good to hear. Three delegates were chosen to attend the state convention to be held in Chicago Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, 2 and 3. It is -mandatory that the president be one of the delegates and the other two are George Pedersen and Joe Cina. Three alternates are Fred Marks, Horace Wagner and Sam Yokely. Lenny Freund gave a report on the trophy to be presented to the king and queen at the county fair. Support of this project was unanimously approved. Roy Dodd was appointed protem to replace Frank Schroeder as chairman of the underprivileged children's committee. Mr. Schroeder is in San Diego, Calif., for health reasons. Each meeting gets better and better, so remember -- attend and bring a friend. Episcopal "Church The' Episcopal church meets at 9 a.m. every Sunday at Harrison school. Holy Communion is served each week. Rev. R. R. McMurty officiates. All are welcome to join in this worship service. Birthday Party Paula Parker was 6 years old July 25. She celebrated with a party in the yard of her home at the Center. Wieners, soft drinks and ice cream were served , to thirty-one friends. Games i were played and everyone had a good time. Surprise Parents with Visits Second Lt. Richard Mathews surprised his family last week- ' end when he flew from Waco, Texas, to visit them for two . i days. Play Cards for Hospital The Wonder Woods canasta group met at the home of Neva Fuhrer July 26. High scorers were Catherine Wurm and Mary Sandgren. Other members present werejjRuth Woodward, Helen Cope, Velma Sinclair, Martha Meeker and Ann Miller. Six dollars was collected to be turned over to the hospital auxiliary. Move From Lake Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas were honored at a farewell gettogether Saturday, July 21.. Residents at the Lake for about five years, they are moving to Chicago to be -nearer - Mr. Thomas' work. Mr. and Mrs. McComb were host and hostess for the evening and others present were Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen and Mr. Thomas' brother and wife, Mr.- and Mrs. Richard Thomas, from New Foundland. Mr. - and Mrs. Thomas leave many friends here at the lake and they will be remembered by the good work they did as co-chairmen of the Harrison P.'.TA. in 1955-56. It's A Boy The Bible church parsonage will ring with the cries of a baby boy as well as hymn singing now. Pastor and Mrs. Richard Wright are parents of a boy, Thomas George, who was born July 26 and weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. Their other son is happy to have a playmate. , Taylor Dockery Marriage St. Ann's Episcopal church in Woodstock was the scene of a lovely wedding Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m., which united" in marriage Mrs. Catherine Taylor and Mr. Thomas Dockery. Sirs. Taylor and her son, George, have lived at Wonder Lake about ten years. Rev. R. R. McMurty read the service and was assisted by George Taylor. Mrs. Irma Sorenson, organist, played selections before the service. The bride chose blue crystalette for her wedding dress, made princess style and worn xwith a short jacket with stand-up collar. She wore blue slippers to match and a white hat and white mitts. Her flowers were red loses. Mrs. Justus Kellner, sister of the bride, was her attendant, wearing a blue iridescent taffeta dress with pink hat and carried pink flowers. Need for Motor Corps Drivers There is a definite and serious need for volunteer motor corps drivers for ,the McHenry county chapter of the American Red Cross. The active file of over twenty uniformed motor corps drivers has dwindled to about seven volunteers who give regularly of their time. The ranks are open to men and women at least eighteen years of age who have the required state and local licenses to drive arid are willing and able to volunteer at lea^t twenty-five hours of (service a year. Mrs. Edna Barnick of Woodstock is the Red Cross volunteer chairman of motor corps and may be contacted through the local Red Cross office in Woodstock. Visit from East Mr. and Mrs. H. Wright of the Wonder -Lake Bible church extends an invitation to all who wish to join in the worship services conducted at this church. The Senior Sunday School class conducted a special service Sunday evening in honor of two of its class members who are joining^ the Armed Forces.
