MILK SALE Recent selling campaigns in some retail stores in Illinois resulted in increases in sales of fluid milk ranging up to 75 per cent during the promotional period. A marked carry-over upturn in milk sales was noted after the period expired. This showing was outlined in a report of the state Department of Agriculture listing special activities of the department during September. Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier has reminded motorists who wish to retain 'their presenjt automobile license numbers that only about two Iweeks remain Jo submit their applications. The Motor Vehicle Law requires the secretary of state to re-assign the present number for the next year if the individual submits his application not less than sixty days prior to the expiration date of the current license, and requests reassignment of the number. Secretary Carpentier pointed out that this provision of the law makes Nov. 1 the deadline for re-assignment. Applications must be in his office by that date, Mr. Carpentier said. Secretary Carpentier urged persons who want to retain their numbers to send their applications without delay, in case it may be necessary to return them for additional information. AMEND LIQUOR ORDINANCE AS IT AFFECTS COUNTY ROBOT GUIDE The Illinois State Museum expects to have a robot.guide system in working order by next Feb. 15. Visitors will then be able to rent light-weight receiving sets, carried by shoulder straps, and thus stroll about while taking in lectures on natural history, Indian exhibits or art displays, as sent out from three "situations" in the museum. A resolution was passed by the county board last week, amending the liquor ordinance governing the licensing and control of the sale of alcoholic beverages in McHenry county outside the corporate limits of any city, town or village. The first amendment will limit total number of class A licenses to sell liquor at retail to 100; _limit total number of class B licenses to 10 and limit the number of class G licenses to 10. The new amendib&nt will not prevent renewal of present licenses.
