SURPLUS FOOD The Illinois Public Aid Commission has reported its distribution of 818,854 pounds of federal surplus food to 71,425 persons in 25 downstate counties. Of those receiving this food, 25,142 were classified as temporarily out of work or needing help fbr only a short time, the others were listed on some of the five continuing public assistance programs carried on by the commission.
