The McHenry State bank retains its position as McHenry county's wfergest financial institution with resources in excess of $13,000,000. The greatest increase was in savings deposits, where 1,250 new accounts and additions to existing accounts have swelled the total savings to almost $6,000,000. This is a healthy situation for the community as it reflects savings habits in these days of near inflation and easy credit. This con- 4ition indicates that the people of EcHenry are conscious of the need for saving for the future. A substantial increase is also noted in checking accounts, where increased facilities, such as the drive-in window and day and night depository, have enabled more people to take advantage of this phase of banking. The McHenry State bank employs six officers and twenty-four employees to operate this thirteen million dollar institution. In line with thfe local bank's policy of purchasing the most modern equipment to serve its customers better, the McHenry State bank recently installed fireproof desks to house savings and checking account ledgers which no longer make it necessary to store them in the vault. The bank has recently opened new parking lot on the east side of north Greett. street. The new lot, in addition to the parking lot adjoining the bank, should provide ample parking, space for all while transacting their banking business. Insulin funds are used tp supply insulin to diabetic veterans yvho have been dismissed the hospitals but who are jinable to pay for the inedication they need. Vaponefrin, like..insulin, brings comfort to the men who are suffering from Asthma who cannot afford. to purchase the prescribed medication. Treasure chest funds provide cigarettes', candy or fruit to all hospitalised veterans in Illinois. Canteen book fund, one of the rribst popular programs, provides the veteran patient who has no income of his own with means to make purchases of a few of his needs and at the same time gives him the satisfaction of selecting his o\Vn purchases. Through the hospitality funds all hospitals are assured monthly entertainment, furnished greeting cards, stamps, matches, bingo sets, magazines and many other items. Downey nursery provides care and entertainment for the children of veterans while relatives and friends visit the veterans in the hospital; children are also served milk and cookies. Easter gift fund provides the, hospitalized .veteran wth a one dollar canteen book or a special gift at Easter time. All these phases of the American Legion auxiliary's rehabilitation programs ar_e made possible through the generous (Kmtributions of local units throughout the state. At this time we would like to remind everyone of the Marionette show being sponsored by the Parents' association of the Sons of the Legion Drum and Bugle Corp. There will be three performances at McHenry high school auditorium, Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1. 3:30 and 8 p.m. A small ad- % mission charge will help buy new uniforms for the Drum and Bugle Corps.
