Alice Quaiver, our president, asked for a vote on a much discussed addition to our by-laws, which ihcidently had caused Alice unjgld anquish this last week. A ™te was taken on the subject and was carried unanimously in favor of the decision Alice was forced to make. As always Alice, you did make the right decision and sincerely hope by now you feel relieved a bit Having no further business the meeting was brought to a close. A game was then played. Walking off with the first prize was <£iene Bartos the most comprehensive gal there, running a close second were Lucille Jones, Vicki Bottari and Jean Parisi. These three gals had to play off as we only had two prizes left. Outcome, Jean Parisi won second and Vicki Bottafi third. Lucille? Better luck next time. Coffee and cake were served and after quite a little yakitty yak we all went merrily on our way home. I do ®>pe we will have a better turn out next month. The social night was truly a disappointment with only sixteen people attending. I just wish that you would attend one of these social nights. It is such a good way to attain our wants for our community and have a good time too. I truly do not «ant to sound houndy on this ibject, but- I just cannot understand why more people don't at least give it a try. Please try and attend the next one. No one is expected to come to every social night, but I guarantee you if »you attend once, you will go again. / Community Loss I learned of Marie Strumer's death after my column had already been sent In, so coultPonly call and give the brief news that she had died early Monday morning. Marie was laid to rest in St. Mary's cemetery in Chicago after high Mass in St. Branden church of that city. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Rose and Len Blanc. Sympatfey It is with deep regret that I have another death to report. Jean Gagnon's father. Walter Okiniewski passed away suddenly Jan. 10. AlthoUgh Mr. Okoniewski had suffered a bad spell, about five weeks ago, his death came as a great shock to Jean and her eight brothers and sisters. High Mass was celebrated, Monday, 'Jan. 13. at St. John of God's church! Interment was in Resurrection cemetery in Justice Park, 111. Just before our rounds of play it was decided that we would award a third prize instead of a boobie prize. The entree (Chicken A La King) was served at Lynn Beaver's home and Virginia Cooling had the dessert and coffee which she served beside the cheerful fireplace.
