Ice-Creamer! When Roseanne Wojtanek sees this item she's going to say, "I hate ice cream." Well, according to that little birdie that always talks to me, I understand that jello is the favorjaje as far as Roseanne is concerned lately. Poor Roseanne. No more nasty ole tonsils to make those awful sore throats anymore. That little bird I told you about sure gets around. He even knows secrets -- like -- for instance -- Roseanne secretly liked being, sick. The birdie says that all little girls like the pampering they get when the tonsils are removed. Glad to hear that ywre feeling so much better now, Roseanne. New Gob Another of our Lakemoor boys has chosen Uncle Sam as his home for a while.- Rex. Pyle left on Monday, Feb. 3 for Great Lakes trainiAg station where he will receive his ten weeks boot training. A little late but our wishes to you, Mickey, for many, more happy birthdays. He's Here! Ne^ special plans had been made. TTie family had only one prayer for their after grade. -- "Let Kenny come home soon."--He was expected within a few weeks. Then, as the family ate their nieal in silence, a faint knock came at the door. The second knock was a iittle more insistant. Someone answered. --Amazement--! Then in unison -- "Kenny's home!!" The pump house caught fire and was completely destroyed. Fortunately the speed of the engine prevented the loss of the entire house. Only slight damage was done to the rear of the residence. On Saturday evening, the engines answered a call to the LaVande home where reports are that a chimney fire was in progress. Evidently no serious blaze* occurred.' (Continued on page 16) From where I sit ...^ Joe Marsh Windy's "Sleep Machine" "Call me lazy," says Windy Taylor, "but it's folks like me who are responsible for progress. Come see my latest invention." Windy's latest consists of an old alarm clock, some door springs, a car battery--all wired up to the hopper of his cattlefeeder. When the alarm goes off it closes a circuit -- opening the chute and sending feed into the manger automatically. The clock's set at 12, so the cattle get fed midnight and noon while Windy sleeps (he takes a midday nap). They look fat and contented ... and so does he. From where I sit, I wouldn't call Windy "lasy." Far from it. It's just that he looks at things from every possible angle--and it seems to do him good. Windy keeps an open mind on oil subjects.
