The Barkers moved to Ringwood after leaving our community last year. Anniversary Feb. 25 will mark the third , anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Piesin. Birthdays A little late, but best wishes to Helen Novak who celebrated her birthday on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day. Happy birthday to Bobby ^Zahn who is celebrating his birthday on Feb. 28. Bobby will become 11 years of age this day. Cub Scouts A very good turn out and an , enjoyable evening for dad and his sons when they attended the annual Cub Scout banquet. The father and son banquet was held on Feb. 15 at the Mr. and Mrs. Earel Belford attended a pot luck supper on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The supper was held at the Methodist church in McHenry. Also on Wednesday the nineteenth Carol and Janice Schueler had the pleasure of attending the boat show at the amphitheater in Chicago. Sam Root has returned from a six week vacation in Florida and Cuba. An enjoyable time was had visiting friends, relatives and sight seeing.. His family has remained there for several more weeks. The Joe DeMarco family entertained friends and relatives on Sunday,. Feb. 16 in honor of their children's birthday. Viola was one year old and big brother Rickey, became five. Guest^ attending the party were Mrs. Kathy Yardas and children, Candie and David; Mrs. Helen Demarco and sons, Tony. She underwent x-rays and a complete checkup. A bad cold and complications seem to be Georgia's main trouble. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Georgia. ' FAIR HISTORY A record of 104 county fairs and exhibitions may be held in Illinois this year, acoording to a tentative list released by Stillman J. Stanard, director of the state Department of Agriculture. A total of 101 fairs operated in 1957. The all-time high was 1956 when 103 expositions were held. Despite a drop in the number of fairs last year, estimated attendance rose to 2,213,866, an increase of some 24,000 over 1956. Combined premiums offered by the 101 fairs in 1957 totalled $2,593,924. Actual premiums awarded by these expositions amounted to $2,051,625. State aid to county fairs for premiums aggregated $1,072,374, of which $999,994 has been paid. A deficiency appropriation of $72,380 to pay the remainder will be sought at the next session of the legislature. Thirteen fairs operating in the fair and exposition fund received $693,309 for construction and equipment of exposition halls and financing of non-agricultural exhibits.
