SCOBT TROOPS f^* : by Marlon Sulok : V.F.W. troop 161 will attend the Kishwaukee camp- ; dree being held at Marengo May 3 and 4. Preparations for our part in the camporee arc now under way. Last fall's camporee w a s * held in McHenry where' better - than 300 boys got together. This camporee is expected to l$e even bigger. Our troop .was one of the sharpest outfits there last year and we are expecting an even better showing this spring. i Our next two troop meet- •' ings will be devoted for the preparations of the camporee. Our charter is up for renewal. Mr. Foss has spent much time and effort in recruiting new / adult leaders in the way of. assistant scoutmasters. New to o u r l i s t a r e M r . L u b k e , who has been a great help with o u r t r o o p o p e r a t i o n s f o r t h e • last few months, and Mr. Para, who has shown an interest in the out of doors. Continuing in the troop is Mr. Petlak. Coming up this summer Js the week at Camp Lowden. We hope to, see every boy in our troop get to attend summer camp, for it is the richest N experience a boy can have in his youth. Interested parents and their sons are invited to our troop meetings Wednesday nights at the Tower building. Cubs displayed bird ^ Houses they had made. They were hung it\ a real tree and made a very cute and suitable cente r p i e c e f o r t h e e n t i r e P a c k meeting. The boys also displayed the litterbags they had made earlier in the month. Richy Heckman received his Wolf badge and Bobby Tobiac and Eddie Atkins received the denner's double gold bars and the assistant denner's single gold bar, in that order. The boys w&re all well rep r e s e n t e d by f t i e i r p a r e n t s which is a very good sign that Cubbing has become^ an inte-* gral part of each boy's life. Den 3 now has two representatives on the Cub Scout committee. .They are Donald Whynot and Andrew Patellaro, Sr. Any other father of a Cub Scout who is interested in the scouting program ig welcome to atlend the committee meeting which is held the Tuesday following the Pack meeting at the Methodist church at 7 p.m. Cub Scout News Den 3 Den 3 of Lakemoor had two representatives at the annual Boy Scout appreciation dinner in Woodstock on April 14. They were Lorette and Sally Lubke, the den mother and assistant den mother respectively. They were both the guests of Boy Scout Troop 161 also of Lakemoor. At the April Pack meeting in the Methodist church last Thursday, the Notice .. Th<? situation of speeders throughout the community and subdivision has brought many complaints to our chief of police, John Kraus. He has reported to me that any motorist caught exceeding the speed limit anywhere in the village will be fined heavily. The speed limits are posted so there is j»o excuse for traveling so fast. The nice weather now will bring all the little children out of doors, so please use caution when traveling through our village. April Birthdays Maryanne* Brzezinski had a birthday on Easter S u n d a y making her five years o!d but did her celebrating a few days later, with some of her /little friends. One little guest fell asleep before it was time to go to the party, so mama Brossman showed instead of Melody Anne. Edward Kamin, a resident here for many years and still a property owner, celebrated his birthday on April 8 in his home in Iowa. . George Forbes celebrated his birthday on April' 16. Nice going, Dick. Anniversaries Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coughlin, new residents to the village, celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary on April 1 7 . Girl Scouts The girls reaching the age of 10. by September or October should call Anne -Brzezinski the scout leader if they are interested in this troop. The cookie sale is in, progress and the girls hope that everyone will give the girls all the support that they can. The girls that will reach the age. of 10 to 14 and interested in scout work can get further information from Mrs. Marge Beahler at 591-W-l. By this Thursday the girls interested must «have their money turned in for registration. , Ladies League The ladies held their social at the Fire-Community-House Wednesday evening, where Mrs. Mix and Mrs. Canjmarta celebrated their birthdays.
