The troop committee met last week and started work on sev * eral projects. The proposed monthly program was reviewed and is promised to be a fine one with many interesting events for the boys, including a special camp-out this month. The troop regular semi-yearly elections will be held this week. Scouts who are planning to attend summer camp must haVe their registrations in within the next two weeks. More , information about summer camp may be had from the scoutmaster, Mr. Todd. of Mr: and Mrs. Phil Kibbee, was confirmed on May 25 at the Zion Lutheran ehurch in McHenry. To help this young tady celebrate was her family, her god-mother, Mrs. Elsie Barthalomew and uncle from Pistakee Highlands. All were dinner guests at Gurnee. Girl' Scout Troop 809 On June 9, the girl scout court of awards will be held at the Fire-Community house frOm 7 to 8:30 p m. All parents of the girls in the troop are invited to attend and also any members of the sponsoring group are also invited. This means so much to all the scouts so parents and members of the sponsoring group try to come out for this affair. The girls have worked very hard to achieve their awards and would like a nice group see them receive them. This will be the last meeting until September. On May 28, several girl scouts visited the Woodstock Sentinel publishing firm, for which they received valuable information. The following girls who are working toward their journalism badge are Sharon O'Leary, Ruth Schmitt, Joyce and Janice Wall, Judy and Lorraine Steadman, Christine Hose, Mickey Morrison and Katharine Brzeziaski. Mr. and Mrs. N. Morrison, Sr. from Niles; Mr. and Mrs. Dnvern from Morton Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Wodds and family, Judy Strecker and Mrs. Paul McAleese, and Paul McAleese all from Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Arenz and son from Streator and Jeffery Strecker from California. A delicious barbecue' chicken, dinner was served in the Morrison's yard. For the younger set a ride on the Fox River in the Morrison's boat, which ended in a hilarious bout of laughter when Jeffery Strecker, a sailor fell into the drink while attempting to tie the boat to the , pier.' Let's make this a big affair and have iun together. New Speed Limit The village roads are now all posted with new speed limit signs, so please drive the^ speed that is posted. Our children and pets are loved by all of us and hope that each and everyone driving on our side roads will obey the speed limit. Village Board New# The village board has voted to purchase chemicals to spray on the water w^eds and park areas to kill all the weeds. The beaches will have a new look about them soon for the sand has been ordered for both beaches to make sunbathing a pleasure. New fence posts will soon be installed along the lake front making the look of our community something to be proud of. Cub Scouts Den 8 All the Cub Scouts in Den 3 except Frank Patellaro, who has been confined to his aunt's home since a bad fall from a tree, marched in the Memorial Day parade. Miss Sally and Lorette Lubke and Mr. Whynot also marched in the parade and took charge of the scouts. Terry Morrison and Kenny Ehredt. also Cub Scouts, marched with the others in the parade. Clean Up Week Clean Up Week will start on June 6 and a special pick up will be on June 9 and another pick up on June 16. McDermott has 'been re-appointed trustee for the McHenry Fire Protection district for the next three years. BOY SCOOTS Boy Scouts from. Troop 162 enjoyed a two-night camp-out and hike at Camp Lowden, near Oregon, recently. Many of them took the twenty-mile Blackhawk trail hike. The boys participating were Jack Meyer, Jim Gerth, Dave Kerr, Roger Thompson, Hugh Nelson, Fred Durrenberg, Bob Rodde, Joe Miller, Donald Justen, Chipper Lombardi, Vinnie Weyland and Mark Laskowski. The boys were accompanied by three adults, Robert Lombardi, Francis Mazzone and Leo Thompson.
