Our deepest sympathy is' extended to Mrs. Lay and the. surviving members of her family. ' Carnival Time 9St. John's parish carnival is coming up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 8, 9 and 10. This carnival should proved to be entertaining to one and all as the committee has planned something for all age groups. " I Painful Accidents Lightning seemed to strike twice within the Wakitsch family in a matter.of days last week. Ricky and his younger brother, Bobby, were playing in a* neighbors yard last Tuesday \vhen the boys lost their balance and fell'off the retaining wall. Both boys were taken to the clinic in McHenry where a stitch was needed to close the wound ih Ricky's head. Bobby received a head gash but was really more scared than anything else. Thursday evening their father, Gerry, was cutting the grass when the mower got stuck. Gerry tried to loosen the mower, when he lost his balance and the mower passed over his foot, severing three toes. At this writing Gerry is still confined to the McHenry hospital. McAnliffe Baby Baptized Last Sunday afternoon at 1:30, the infant son of Tom and Nancy McAuliffe was christened Thomas Robert, in a rite performed by Father Coakley at St. Patrick's church. Sponsors for the young lad were his aUnt and uncle, Mrs. Lorraine Jones and Robert Smith. Dinner was served later at the home of the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Smith. Jak-Ana Heights No. d o u b t many saw the float from Jak-Ana Heights when it .was in the Fiesta Day parade in McHenry, recently. The residents'of the subdivision were all quite -proud, of the float as it was all made by hand afl(d took, many long' hours of flower making and planning. The work and effort on the part of those, who Contributed their time for this project was well satisfied laist Sunday when the float was well received in Woodstock. Many persons recognized the name of Johnsburg and Jak-Ana Heights and let it be known by their applause. On Sunday afternoon of the last week, the residents of Jak-Ana Heights gathered op the community club grounds to attend their annual corn roast and picnif. The men got together for a little amateur baseball but by Monday, I'm sure some of them suffered from major aches and pains. The ' women enjoyed themselves by conversing with one another while the children were kept busy competing for prizes in various games.
