I'm afraid that I have been giving you the wrong meaning of this social group. When .the first meeting was held it was the start of "Village Property Owners' as- [ sociation" with a charter and the election of officers. The ffest turnout was very, large OTa everyone was in favor of it. These meetings ar$ for your own protection and a place for you to voice your grieveances and to offer any .help towards making this a livable commun- • ity. The social part comes af- • ter the short business meet- • ings. The dues are paid only once and that is when you join, ^ftnything that is discussed and needs taking care of, our secretary will bring before the : village board and they will , take care of it. I sure hope this clarifys • things and if you "still aren't sure you may call the president of the association, George Schuman at 2438, and he can ; help you. i Home' Bureau The first meeting pf the sea- Bon got under way at Mrs. L. Mrs. Clara Harrington celebrated her ???, birthday last week, too. Richard Fredrick celebrated his thirtieth birthday last week and I want him to know I feel real brave about giving his age away. The Lehman family went into the city to celebrate Betty's dad's birthday with the rfcst of her family. There were eight children ahd eighteen grandchildren at this family reunion on dad's seventy-seventh birthday. Demonstration Pat Kaiser had her friends and neighbors in for a demonstration last week and everyone enjoyed ft very much and were surprised that the things weren't top expensive. Cake and coffee were' served afterwards. Baby Shower Mrs. Frances Frank of McHenry sure got a surprise when she came over to May Casey's house to sew some curtains and found out it was a baby shower with lovely gifts for new baby. New Arrivals Mrs. John Ripley had a baby girl in the wee hours of Thursday morning. Those of you Who remember the Mann family when they lived here maybe would like to know that they have a new addition to the family in the form, of a little girl. Robbery I bet whenever Fran Kasperski goes to town from now on she will make sure she locks the car, because last week someone took the radio and speaker from her car. She had groceries too, but thay weren't interested in them. Election We have a Democratic precinct captain, Dean Cios, in the village, and for those of you who haven't registered and would lifee any information you may call him and he will be glad to help you on any questions you want ansWered. Call McHenry 358. Family Reunion The Williams family had a reunion picnic when LaMarrs' folks were here from Florida. There were twenty-five children and, grown-ups and each member of the family brought some food and refreshments. They played games including some good volley ball, young and old alike. A grand time was had by all. Closed Road I guess there are hard feelings among some people because the end of River Drive is closed off. This is the end where you turn off to go to Pistakee. This is really a drainage ditch that never was a road but a ditch for the water to flow into the channel and thereby keeping the water from staying on the road. Some people had taken it upon themselves to make it a road which they should never have done and now it is a drainage ditch which it is supposed to be.
