There will be games for young and old and food will be sold to anyone wishing to have a snack. Come early and plan on having a good time at the Fun Fair. Betty and Milt Sandelin drove into Chicago Sunday to attend a bridal shower for her sister who will soon be married. Frank Krumwiede returned to work this past -week after spending a week's vacation at home. George Neesen also returned to work. Mike Morley is again paying Kay Sielisch, Kay missed him while he Was in the hospital. We hope tttat you will all remember the benefit for Terry Phillips that will be held at the community center this Saturday night. It will start at 7 and last 'till 10. Drop in for awhile, it's a worthy cause. A ^ week ago last Tuesday evening, some young boys set fire to the woods at the end of Rand Drive. There was, a wind and the fire was getung a good start. Luckily the fire was noticed in time and Martin and Trudy Rogde were able to put it out. Please, let all be cartful with fires and especially now when everything is getting dry. Harold Peterson was initiated into the American Legion last week at the Fox Lake Legion home. Last Monday evening representatives from the council of churches met at the Johnsburg school with people from Pistakee Highlands, Sunnyside and. surrounding areas who are interested in forming a church in the vicinity. .Kay Sielisch received word this week that her favorite nephew, Eddie Wagner of the Air Force, will be transferred to England. Kay took care of him for the first four years of his life and feels bad to see him so far from home. Roger Rogde called his folks last week and he reports that lie had a wonderful time oh this two week vacation in Acapulco, New Mexico. • Darlene and George Neesen and. son, David,: drove into Broadview, to. attend a b.i g birthday party for Darlene's grandmother. They had a nice time ^ind they even got time to bowl a few games. While Harold stayed in • Washington op business, Muriel got a. chance to go to Norfolk, Va., to see some of her old friends. She visited again with..some of her old club members and bowling team. Last Saturday Ahn and Jim Mclnerney and Kathy attended the wedding of Ann's nephew in Oak Park. Danny Madock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Madock, was christened on Oct. 19 in St. John's church in Johnsburg. Don't forget that Nov. 4 is election day and we all should do our part and get to the polls and vote. The' polls will be in Johnsburg and transportation will be provided. MISSION HELD AT ST. PETER'S WELL ATTENDED by Mrs. Charles Freund The mission services held the past week at St. Peter's Church were well attended. The opening was on Sunday morning conducted by the Very Rev. V. F. Kienberger of Chicago who made morning and evening services most interesting. Solemn closing was Friday evening at which time Father Kienberger bestowed the Papal Blessing on all present. Benediction of the Blessed Sacranient and the singing of lie Deum was an appropriate closing to a week of prayer and adoration. ternoon. Hallowe'en Parties On Wednesday evening, Oct. 29 girl scouts of the Brownie Troop had a Hallowe'en party at the home of. their leader, Mrs. Virginia Thornton. The Spring Grove P.T.X. will hold a Hallowe'en party at the town hall on Thursday evening, Oct. 30 for the pupils of Spring Grofre-1 school. The evening's program will be games and dancing. Prizes will , be given fqr the best costumes. Refreshments will be served. On the eve of Hallowe'en the Spring school recreation club sponsored by Mrs. Charles Class will hold a "Trick or Treat" party combined with a scavenger hunt. Three different groups will go through town carrying lighted Jack-OLanterns.
