One of the most vifid, and the .most tragic, is of the 1926 fire, in which the Justen block was almost completely destroyed. Not to be long daunted by their loss, Mr. Justen began immediately to rebuild the Peter M. Justen furniture store, which he successfully operated until 1948 and which is now occupied by the Olsen Furniture Go. Erect Memorial In memory of his parents, the Justens erected the present Peter M. Justen &, Son funeral home in 1939. In 1949 ' their son, Dan, a graduate of Notre dame and Worsham School of Mortuary Science, entered the funeral profession as a third generation associate, the business having been established in 1882. Mr. and Mrs. Justen's parents, the N. J. Justens and the M. M. Niesens. lived to celebrate their golden wedding anniversaries. Both Mr. and Mrs. Justen are interested and active in McHenry and surrounding communities. Mr. Justen is a charter member (50 years) of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the McHenry county welfare committee and a trustee of St. Mary's parish. Mrs. Justen is a member of McHenry Women's club, Garden club Legion Auxiliary. McHenry hospital auxiliary, Christian Mothers of St. Mary's church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Travelling has always been a great joy to the Justens and over a period of years their vacations have taken them to nearly every state in the Union. Mr. and Mrs. Justen are most grateful for the many friends, acquaintances and associations they have made in the past 50 years. Marvin C. Martin, principal, and Miss Helen Stevens of the McHenry high school faculty attended a school-university relations conference held at the university last Thursday and Friday. BETTY KRICKL TO BE INSTALLED AS WORTHY MATRON HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL TO ROBERT BARRY, 63 Robert Barry, 63, who resided in Bally O'Greg, south of McHenry suffered a f&tal heart attack at his JifOme early Sunday morning, Nov. 16. He had b e e n i n g o o d h e a l t h a n d h a d visited with his wife a short time before she found h i m dead, sitting in a chair. Mr. Barry was bom Jan. 7. | 1895, in St. Louis, Mo., and | had resided in this area for the past thirteen years. He was a manager for apartment buildings in Chicago. He is survived by his widow, Fay, a daughter, Mrs May Siegel, and a grandchild. The body rested at the George Justen & Son funeral home until Monday afternoon, when private burial services were held. Installation of newly elected officers of the Order of the Eastern Star will take place Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Masonic hall. Betty Krickl has been named worthy matron. Other officers are George Krickl, worthy patron; Lillian Bossier, as associate matron; George Bossier, associate patron; Edith Dowell, secretary; E v 0 r a Peterson, treasurer; Anita Hansen, conductress; and Erica Olson, associate conductress. PLAN SPECIAL DEAfrERY MEETING AT SPRING GROVE The McHenry Deanery Council of Catholic Women held a board meeting on Friday evening. Nov. 7, at Christ the King parish at Wonder Lake. A program for the year was discussed" and planned in part. Wednesday, Dec. 3, was chosen for an open meeting at St. Peter's parish in Spring Grove at 7:45 p.m. Father Harold Nilges, the moderator, will show slides on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Mrs. Catherine Clark of McHenry will give a short talk on the advent wreath. A report on what has been accomplished by the diocesan council of catholic women will be given. All Catholic women of McHenry county are invited to attend this meeting.
