The McHenry Kiwanis and the Kiwanis Club of McHenry Township, in sponsoring this event, are motivating the Kiwanis motto, WE BUILD. They hope to encourage the players to be proud of any triumph achieved but always to enjoy the game for its own sake. This event would not have been "possible without the firm support given by the entire community and the ceaseless efforts of the coaches, teachers, and entire faculty of the school, as well as the parents who have stood by in victory or in defeat. Especially honored tonight is the boy chosen, by a jury of his peers--his teammates-- as the outstanding player of the year. He was chosen not only for his ability to play football but because he possesses the potential qualities necessary to becoming a citizen of the universe, since his horizons have widened to a circle reaching beyond the orbit of our Earth. The outstanding player is a symbol, a symbol of the youth of today who will soon be looking for new worlds to conquer. When he finds them, will they be what he had hoped- for, the long sought for Utopia? Or will the new worlds have problems, of a different kind, perhaps, but still problems, to challenge the mind and heart of man? Where man goes, so too must woman go. Those enthusiastic young ladies who have encouraged the team and inspired the entire student body will find their niche alongside their men in the new worlds. They, too, must learn to face a world whose boundaries have extended into outer space. We salute the Cheerleader'. Man has learned to trust in the wisdom of God Who has always given him the strength and ability necessary to rise above his environment and to seek new horizons, when expediency demanded this. He will not fail now, when our world is in its greatest transitional period in history. We have learned to adapt ourselves to new and sometimes strange environment--why not to new worlds? The best advice to youth is "Have Faith". •. i < ^ \ ' V^ * 4 , - A . \ > - V S PROGRAM V WORWICK PHOTO top Row, Left to Right Mike Gantert, Tom O'Brien, Allen Franz, .Bernie Klapperich, Tom Claybaugh, H.
