Card Tourney Begins The Catholic Daughter of America card tournament started Thursday, Nov. 20. Winners for the evening were Frances Schmitt in canasta; Rose Kennebeck, Olive Bauer and Pauline Nimsgern in pinochle; Irene Guffey. Helen Young, Margaret Freund. Margaret Blake and Ethel Blake in pinochle; and Mary Agnes Boetsch and Marilyn Truckenbrod in bridge. Refreshments were served by Alvera Nye and her committee. The next meeting will be held Dec. 4. Garden Club ^ Meets Dec. 16 Next month's meeting of the McHenry Garden club will be at the home of Mrs. G. C. Krickl 'at 311 Richmond road on Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. There will be a pot-luck luncheon served, and Christmas stockings will be filled for the Hartland home and Shangri-la. TEACHERS ATTEND ANNUAL r FALL WORKSHOP Tuesday /November 25, Ninety - two freshman men have been elected for positions of leadership at Cornell university, among them John S. Clarke, an engineering student, who has been elected social chairman of Founder's hall and a member of the council. The council, manages all social, academic arid cultural affairs- relating to the freshman dormitories. In addition, it provides for the judiciary board, which has initial jurisdiction over all rule infractions occuring in the dormitory area. John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Houghton W. Clarke of Rt. 2, Wonder Lake. SHOP IN McHENRY McHenry high school Future Teachers association, attended the fourth annual fall workshop of Student Illinois Education association and Future Teachers of America at the Hinsdale Township hijgh school. FTA is the high schopl student division of the Illinois Education association which purposes are to develop Within the students attitudes towards becoming successful teachers, to become acquainted with trends in teaching as well as professional opportunities. The fall workshop program had as its theme the idea of COUNTDOWN 5 4 3 210. The various levels of teaching, including the field of teaching exceptional children, were discussed in small group sessions.. These discussion leaders were professional educators from the nine-county region.
